I say To-may-dow

Tom-mar-toe.
I'm a Brit with a Sussex accent.
Phil.
Tom-A-ta (bit of jersey accent lingers on some words)

I say it like toh-may-toe!
Mayter.
OK, whatever PookaShell says is good enough for me.
Depends whether I'm hanging around fellow Southerners or Californians. Back home, it's a ta-MAY-da. In Cali, it's a ta-MAY-to. I usually slip back into the Southern pronounciation when I'm cooking too, even in Cali, probably because I learned to cook from Southern women and I slip back into Southern Wife mode in the kitchen.
K hates it when I start drawling like a redneck, LOL. Whenever I say something like "hand me that tamayda there," he winces visibly.![]()
lol this is a funny thread, umm I guess like Pookashell.

My grandfather grew up his whole life in Memphis and he says "warsh" and "Warshington," too. If that's a Maryland/Virginia thing, I don't know where he picked it up.
to-mar-toe
but yeah, australian accent.
I say "Tu-may-doe".

Toe-mate-toe

here in austex the most common pronunciation, myself included, is tuhmayto

Like all the cool kids,
Tah MAY toe

Let's call the whole thing off.
waffles are just pancakes with little squares on them.
tah-may-toe my SO says tah-mah-toe and it drives me crazy!

Terlet!
I don't think "warsh" is a Southern thing because I don't know anyone else who pronounces it like that. Just my grandfather. And his parents were Southern too so I have no clue where he got it from.
