Default Knowing the difference between muscle and fat

I'm at a stage where my goal is to still lose fat and now tone up alot more. Nine more pounds to go in fact. I want to be realistic and make positive real goals to achieve. I'm about 5 foot 5 and 134lbs now. I want to be 125lbs. Am I being realistic here?

How can a person tell what is loose muscle and what is fat? Besides, caliper testing anything else I can use to know how much fat I can lose without going overboard?

    Here is me now:

Damn! You have an awesome figure! Are you just trying to tightening up, or is 125 a mythical number for you? Because I think you look great. Anyhoo, there are those special scales that tell fat percentages. You can get them at Bed bath & beyond and the like.

Yea, just tighten up all over. I have no idea why I chose 125..maybe its because I was a size 7 back when I was a HS freshman and thats how much I weighed. I've been going to sites and putting my in my measurements of both tape and calipers and I range from 25% to 14% BMI.

Whatever you do, dont loose that waist. Also if you prize feminine arms like yours dont over-do any weights. With that body I reckon you choose light toning stuff like yoga or pilates, just dont mess up what you already have!

You're at my target size too. I looked and looked at that pic to try and figure out where you might want to lose weight from; I don't see any excess fat in that pic at all! If you want to tone muscle, okay, but you definitely don't need to lose fat.

    You look hot !!

Here's my advice..Don't get on a damn scale ! Go by your measurements and the way your clothes fit you..Keep in mind that what' s a size 7 in one brand could be something totally dif in another.
I remember wearing a size 4 in all my other clothes but, I needed a size 11 in Calvin Klein..that was before they realized not all women are sticks. So don't trust sizes either!!

Try eating more protein for a while to firm up and add vitamin C. Also eat lost and lots of greens..esp. spinach. Liquid soy lecthin is a great fat burner better then my beloved Tonalin IMO. It's just thick and gross. I'm at the firming up point of my weight loss too and I'm eating egg white and other healthy proteins like crazy.
    My new love...is me !

All I see is a perfectly feminine figure.

Most of us as women want a "better" body and I understand that it's about how we feel about how we look not just what others say but WOW..I want to look like that, your waist, I would almost kill for.

Good luck though on getting where you personally want to be.

You chose that weight because, like most people, they pick an arbitrary number based on a conception of what they're supposed to weigh. Forget about your number on the scale, TM; what's important are the numbers on your clothes and the inches on a tape (or the ticks on a caliper). Forget about BMI scales--they're antiquated and horribly inaccurate. For example, I'm 5'10" at 190lbs; that's borderline obese on a BMI scale. And I'm pretty far from obese...

I've been going to sites and putting my in my measurements of both tape and calipers and I range from 25% to 14% BMI.
That's fucking perfect for a woman, TM--it's dead in the fit range for fat composition. The only thing I think you need is some corrective lenses.

    I TOTALLY agree with CO!!!

You cannot go by weight. The scale does not take bone density, muscle density, etc, etc, etc, into account when throwing out numbers. I'm 5'6" and if I go much below 128, I look "unhealthy". I try to keep my weight around 130.

If you like the way you look in your clothes...if you FEEL good...then you are at a good weight. If not, then take a look at your diet...make the necessary tweaks and make sure you hit the gym no more than once per day.

    You look awesome!!

You look amazing. If you're looking to look more toe while maintaining what you've already been blessed with, try adding a few yoga classes in a week. Look for an Ashtanga or Power Yoga.

If you want to see how much fat you have without usinbg calipers, use your fingers and do a "pinch test." It's doing the same action as the caliper without the equipment and without looking at numbers.

125 sounds like a "mythical number" you have in mind. Don't go by it. Go by how you look, feel and how your clothes fit. I LOVE the tape measure though. It really let's me know what's going on and I've kept the same measurements since highschool (with exception to my boobies). I'm 31.

    Wow!

I agree with the 125 being a mythical number. I know if I weighed what I did in highschool, I'd look ill now.

Your body does develop past highschool, including breasts and hips, etc, and if you've been lifting weights, you'll weigh more but still be smaller.

And you look smoking hot as is. I honestly can't see where you'd take any more off of, and I'm usually very picky. I'll add you to my photo file of inspiration pics

I think you look amazing now. Sometimes we just get a number in our head for some reason. I know I do that. I had a trainer that was tight and had an awesome body. She was about 140 lbs and about your height.

As far as fat testing, I've had so many different restults from calipers that I have no clue. I've had mine read from like 18% to 25% or something. I have one of those scales and I don't know how accurate it is. I think the best way is where they submerge you in water. I wouldn't focus too much on numbers though. You look great and just try to keep yourself healthy.

Hot damn. Thank f**k im not in the states as I'd melt my savings away on ya!

What is your workout routine? Cardio - how long? Weights - reps? And how many times a week are you working out.

I wanna say something. I'm gonna put it out there; if you like it, you can take it, if you don't, send it right back. I wanna be on you.

HOLY SHIT!!! You are HOT! Your waist is tiny, your body is feminine, and you have rockin' proportions. I don't know what your ideal body type looks like, but I think you already match what a majority of us find the most attractive. Thanks for the motivation to go to the gym now : ) I want to look like that!!

Thanks for all the encouraging words everyone. I just feel I can do more with my body and basically sculpt it now. Making a body like that is something I've never done before. VG, I am happy with the way I fit in my clothes; however, I want to be leaner. So I guess I'll just step up my weight training to 3 times a week rather than 2. Then cardio only 2-3 times a week. Babystripper, I cheated I had a trainer twice a week. Maybe I don't see what you guys see but I know now I'm not still fat thanks to everything said. Gives me motivation to keep going in a healthy direction.

I'm basically going to agree with what everyone else has said, ignore the scales, listen to your tape measure and holy sh*t you are so hot I want to eat my dinner off of you!

I see how you could go leaner, it's totally possible, not that you need to, but yes you can do it. As far as how much you'll weight, you may want to adjust that number quite a bit. So many things about our bodies change from when we were adolescent to being grown women, that the scales and our actual body size don't line up the way they did way back when.

So, screw the number, go with what you see in the mirror and on the tape measure. Your plan sounds like a good one, but keep in mind, you may get a lil bigger if you hit the weights more. IF you haave been using a trainer, ask him what you should do on your own to get to this goal.

And oh lord TM, seriously.... your body... wow... wanna come to Az and bake some cookies
