    Default Yellow Blonde Hair

Does anyone know how to make my naturally yellow-blonde hair less yellow short of dying/bleaching it?

I know I can do chamomile or lemon and sit in the sun to make it lighter...but summer's over and I dont really have that much time to sit in the sun, lol.

Are there any products that actually work? Like mentionned above, I dont want to dye it or bleach it..

There are purple shampoos that are made to counteract yellowing for blondes and grey hair. There's one called Shimmerlights. A girl at work swears by it. You could try that, and leave it in for a long time too.

I would use a semi-perm dye in light ash blonde. It won't make your hair any darker, but it will take out the yellow and make it ashier/cooler

Artec Naturals color depositing shampoo. Get the purple colored one, it will tone out a great deal of brass.

Arctec has both shampoo and conditioner. Leaving it on longer doesn't help as much as using it a couple of times each wash.

I know you don't want to color, but kandie is right, a semi permanent color would be the most effective way to neutralize the yellow. As I've mentioned in previous threads, a semi or demi permanent color WILL NOT DAMAGE your hair and it gradually shampoos out. Typically, the conditioners built into demi's actually leave your hair in better shape than before the application.

However, I'd recomend a light violet toned demi- if you can find it on ebay or though a friend with a liscence, get your hands on Redken Shades EQ in 9V as well as a little Shades developer. Apply the demi over clean, damp, towel blotted hair and watch it. Here's the scary part, within 5-10 minutes you should notice your hair turning to almost a greyish tone, do not freak out. True cool, platinum blonde looks either grey or faint lavendar when wet. Rinse quickly. Applying the color on wet hair just gets rid of unwanted tones and allows you to watch the color develope and rinse it when you get to your desired tonality.

Avoid anything that says ash because most lines formulate their ash tones with blue pigments... you'll run the risk of getting green hair.

you can try a deposit only color, they have very little of the chemical that is damaging.

what i do is mix a tiny bit of manic panic (it doesnt damage hair at all) ultra violet into my normal conditioner. start off with a few drops of the dye for each palm of conditioner and work your way up. you dont want to end up purple (i have before it takes a few days to get back to normal)
