    Default Yeast infection treatment

Do you see any difference in the 1,3 or 7 day OTC treatments?

Do not bother with one day. If it even works, then you'll eventually build up resistance, and you'll eventually have to use prescription strength. I don't use less than 5 days. The only time I used three day was when I had an anniversary later that week.

Oh, for minor yeast infections, I stick a clove of peeled garlic up my twat. I swear it works! I used to be the yeast infection queen because I had to wear pantyhose and a pencil skirt when waitressing.

The garlic totally works, and it works better than those awful goopy creams. Stick the garlic up there as far as you can get it in, and leave it there about 12 hours. Within 24 hours you'll feel totally back to normal. It's amazing.

I had a thing all typed out and damn back button...

One day: worth it only if your body responds good to one days. The ovule still leaks so do it at night. It might sting. The one I had to use this time stings like a mofo.

3 day: I think its the best if you have a full blown YI thats really bad.

7 day: Good (same as 3 day results) if you can devote 7 nights of sticking that greasy cream in your nanna. Like warm yogurt with grease in it. Its gross but works too.

Garlic: Works only for me if its not full blown yet. This time it failed me. I've been dying for the past 2 days.

I wouldnt bother with the 1 day...do the 7 just to be on the safe side. Then again..the last cpl YI's I had were particularly resistant. Hell..last time I had to do a 3 day prescription cream and TWO doses of the oral YI pill Diflucan.

So I call my Dr now and get a script. Why waste time?

I guess I also should have mentioned that I'm 37 weeks and 3 days pregnant, I guess I'm leaning towards the 3 day in the case that this baby is coming sooner rather than later.

If you are preggers, why not go with garlic, the natural cure? Sure to be better for you than any over the counter meds.

Its not a mild one, or in it's very early stages......don't think garlic would cut it

If you are that pregnant, I wouldn't stick anything up the cooch without talking to your OB first. You could theoretically blow at any moment and there is no need to trigger labor with foreign substances before your little bunchkin is done baking.

7 day is claimed to be better for pregnant women, as it has a slightly lower concentration and kills most yeast dead in those 7 days. 1 day is a nuclear bomb that kills off the worst, but if it's bad, will come back.

Dont use the garlic if youre pregnant. Some women find the garlic causes a bit of spotting.
Garlic in food is ok though and may help and eating plain natural yogart is good too.

Take acidophilus as a preventative and to help you clear it up. You can take a couple of those pills a day. I always have to if I'm on antibiotics. I think yogurt works great.

Eeek, 1 days burn like crazy. Even the 7 day OTC was awful. I'd visit the doctor and get a prescription cream or Fluconazole tablet, depending on what they allow with your pregnancy.

'FDA pregnancy category C. This medication may be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Diflucan can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby'...

Talk to your doctor for sure. Hope it clears up soon.

    .

Yeah. got a prescription but after reading up on it , was hesistant to take it. I think I'm gonna go with the 3 day,its worked for me in the past and my gut feeling is saying the 7 day is too long...i'd freak if I started going into labor knowing there is concentrated goop still hanging out up in my vajay.

When you take a shower, after you get out...dry your kitty with the towel. Don't leave it wet. I heard that causes it too.

DO NOT use yogurt in your vaginas, ladies!! It's made from milk, which contains lactose, which is a SUGAR. Yeast feeds on sugar.

My midwife mentioned boric acid once. It can be used to treat stubborn yeast infections, although I'm not sure what affect it may have on a pregnant woman. She seemed to think it was okay, but this was still in my 1st trimester:

On the yogurt, buy plain, unsweetened yogurt. I like Pavel's. There is also a Greek yogurt they sell at the grocery store. So no Vanilla flavors or strawberry banana flavors, etc. Yogurt is chalk full of yeast fighting bacteria, and if you put it in your vagina it doesn't have to make it through your intestines and all of the rest.

A thread from a while back worth mentioning:

I am essentially doing the same thing, although it's only been a few weeks. Holy hell it sucks, but I think the only way to really get rid of yeast is to deprive the yeast in your system of nutrients so it dies.
