Hmm. I don't know if I'd consider Jimmy Eat World a one hit wonder. They were fairly popular but then again I could be biased since I have their CD.

Isn't Hey Mickey a one hit wonder? Hey Micky you're so fine you don't understand... crap I got a new annoying song stuck in my head now.

Oooh, I didn't know Patrick Swayze sung "She's like the Wind".

Squeeeee! He's even more sexy to me now!

Oh, and Jimmy Eat World has a new single out that's pretty good. Wouldn't call them a one hit wonder.

and Jimmy Eat World isn't a one hit wonder, but I live in Phoenix so they're local and pretty well known around these parts. Same with the Refreshments and Gin Blossoms

Hrmm... Biz is definitely not a 1-hit... ("Spring Again" anyone?)

Mint Condition... "Quit Breaking..." hit Top 10 on Billboard. Anything else they did was like... it did alright on the R&B charts (aka the irrelevant chart), but didn't even crack Billboard Top 100 or get major airplay (and if it couldn't get played in the Bay Area #4 market at the time, then it wasn't a hit)

    That's how I quantified it.

According to the criteria I last saw, a "One Hit Wonder" is an artist who has only ever had ONE song in the top 20. By that info, Jimi Hendrix is one. Go figure.

To Melvis: "What kind of man" was Mint Condition's second big single and it was in the Billboard Top 20 (it peaked at number 2 on the irrelevant charts)

"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

Used to vaugely know a bunch of one hit wonders in the UK called the Pirahna's.

Had a hit with a rework of a song called Tom Hark.

Their one aim in life was to get wasted and their advance from the record company sure helped that.

    Spacehog rules!

But I don't really listen to much mainstream music unless something about it catches my interest. Most of the stuff I listen to is indie rock. But if I had to pick a 1hit wonder, I'd say The New Radicals - You Get What You Give. I still love that song.

Tears for Fears is a one hit wonder? What about Sowing The Seeds Of Love? Head over Heels? Geezus, what about Shout?

    Level 42 "something about you"
    Johnny Hates Jazz "shattered dreams"

Snowles, I preferred New Radicals "Mother, I Just Can't Get Enough". Here's the wiki entry about One Hit Wonders. It seems to mean something different to everyone.

    ^^^

Jermaine had a handful of chart hits (Say It Again, Word Is Out) -- Say It Again was a top-10 Billboard, IIRC.

About a 1/4th of those artists were more like 2-hit artists.

    *********

    Michael Penn - No Myth
Taco - Puttin' on the Ritz

Melvis, I have a dispute with you over "say it again" by Jermaine Stewart, that wasn't a hit at all, I wouldn't even rank it as memorable. "Jody" was a bigger song than that.

Hey, how come you can recall hit records from Jermaine Stewart and not remember any other hits from Mint Condition!

let me apologize, I realize now while typing this that I'm really angry over a band I didnt' really care much for (I'm a Tony! Toni! Tone! fan)
