Default how to find reputable computer service?

My computer's been acting a little weird and I want someone to look at it and maybe put some anti virus programs on it. How do I find some one like this and how do I know if they are competent? How much does this normally cost?

You don't know anyone that has a little experience with computers? Extended family? Friend? Neighbor? Because if you have no clue what that "service" really includes, the computer technicians can charge you up the yingyang with stuff that wasn't necessary. Most Anti-Virus programs nowadays are fairly easy to install and maintain. Personally, I use BitDefender, because it's not as intrusive as Norton or McAffee...

No, I don't have anyone that can help me other than a paid professional. Trust me, I would love to have someone fix it for free.

This is what I'm worried about. I know nothing so they can tell me anything. Sigh...

Well, Geek Squad is who I used before and they're pretty good. If you just want anti-virus stuff though, Norton is a good brand. You can get that at Office Depot. But if you call Geek Squad and describe what's going on, they can tell you over the phone what it is and around how much it'll cost.
