    Default Guess what?

    I'm not a stripper anymore!

    I got a job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cocktail waitress at one of the strip clubs I dance at, lol.
    I start tomorrow.

I am soo fucking relieved and happy. It's like this huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. The anxiety dancing causes me anymore....just thr though of needing to dance to make money hanging over my head every day stressed me out. I am so glad that burden is gone.

I feel so much happier now. Like I'm finally on my path. Espicially since I also started school..something I have been wanting to go back to for a very long time.

    Yay!!

Yes...You should WANT to dance to make money....but for me, the pressure of OMG need to dance to pay bills freaks me out to much anymore. It's silly and stupd and a complete mind job...but I started talking myself out of making money. What if I don't make back my housefees? Then how will I pay the bills? Tell yourself you won't back back house...and you wont. But no matter how hard I tried to think positive..it didn't work. As soon as I set foot in the club, I began wondering ho wI would get money to make my car payment because I knew I wouldn't make money. I pretty much ruined myself.

This is what happens when you ignore burn out and let it keep festering and festering for years without trying to nip it in the bud. I should have just taken a break a few years ago....instead of trying to wait it out, afraid to give it up, but afriad to keep doing it....I made myself hate dancing, and as a result, start to doubt and hate myself.

Hopefully a few months or so of waitressing will cure me. I'll remove to stress of needing to dance...maybe I'll start wanting to dance again.

You go kaylinn. I'm really excited for you.

I also want you to know that your posts in Hustle Hut and elsewhere have really been inspirational to me. Even though you are moving on from stripping, you should know that you have been a big part of my path to becoming a top earner at my club. I think its really kind and selfless of you to post about the knowledge you've gained over the years for our benifit. I love to see the knew things you post in HH.

Aww. Thank you. For some reason, I'm really really good at sharing my stripper knowledge, but really really bad at taking my own advice. If I can't make money as a stripper...at least I'm helping other make some money!

Ya know thats the same way I started to feel about stripping before I took my break. After more than a year I love it again, but back then just the thought of it gave me the most horrible feeling of dread.

Is it hard to get a job cocktailing in the regular nightclubs? It seems like with the price of a bottle, the tips could get pretty great. I was sorta peeping at BE when that champagne dude closed out his tab. I coulda sworn there was a tip of over a k for the waitress. I'm not sure how many ways she has to split that, or how many tables each girl gets, but the money seemed pretty good.

Good luck at the new job!

^^ it seems to me that the big nightclubs go through agencies to hire cocktail waitresses. I think. Not 100% sure.....but all the nightclubs are owned seperatly from the casino, so the casino's website is useless to apply. The nightclubs also have a coperate name....like Rain and Moon at Palms are owned by N9ne group. I have searched and never seen a place to apply for jobs, which is why I assume they go through an agency.

I honestly have no clue how to get a job a a nigthclub, unless they advirtise an open call, which I have seen for Studio 54 a few years ago, and have seen for RumJungle, but that's it...

For the tips....they have to tip their bartender 20% and that's it. They keep it. Yeah...you think a guy orders a couple bopttle of champainge, thats gonn abe several thousand dollar tab. 18% gratuity is usualyl automaticially added to bottle sales, plus they will usualyl tip more on top of that, so yeah....thoes girls are banking. hardcore.

This is why I waitress of a weekend now in re private parties more than do shows. I'll still do shows yet the waitressing is a nice change from working in a club. Not only that.. I have been where you are... and I did some skimpy work (being a lingere bartender so I could still make good money yet not have to 'dance')... and boy did that three weeks cure me!

It reminded me of why I chose to do what I do in the first place. It really did re-invigorate me. It was totally what I needed so now I know I have that option I will do it if I ever get to that point ever again.

The "time out" from it can be sometimes the thing you need. Yet at the same time there have been more than a few ex-dancers on here who have found "normal" jobs and been happy and permanently retired.

So I wish you well wherever your path leads ...

Yay Kaylinn!! Cocktail waitresses make great money and it's not that hard either. Much easier than dancing when you feel like you NEED to make money. All that pressure is no bueno. But waitressing you just do your job and go home!!

It's really hard to get a job at one of the popular nightclubs on the strip. That's where everyone wants to work. But keep your ear out for someone that can hook you up with a job. I know the waitresses at Pure get 25% commission off every bottle they sell and bottles start at $400. They usually have at least a few tables a night. Plus tips.

If I lived in Vegas, I would have to cocktail waitress for the most part and supplement it with dancing here and there. Dancing there is too much pressure and stress, especially when you really need the money. So I think you made a great decision!!

Yep. That's a good point for anyone in any line of work, and sometimes relationships as well. At the point where it's taking a toll on your psychological well being, but you're too afraid or paralyzed to change (usually because of the money, or just plain out fear of change, or the worst of all, you actually start to enjoy hating work), it really is time to stop, and re-evaluate. I did my own major career change at one point for more or less the same reasons (burn out + fear of change + attachment to the money = paralysis).
