Default Can anyone recommend a PILATES dvd??

I find classes a bit intimidating when I have no clue what I'm doing. My old roommate and I ordered one off an infomercial one time. We called them up and bitched them out for taking so long to send it. Once we received it, it sat in its shipping box for a month before we even it opened it, lol. Needless to say, it was boring as fuck and we only did it a few times. So please suggest something fun!!

    Thanks ladies!!

I like Winsor Pilates. It is the infomercial one though. It worked really well for me though (when I can get off my ass and do it lol)

The boring infommercial one you ordered, it wasn't Windsor Pilates was it?

I love Windsor Pilates that's why! The workouts are easy to follow yet are really effective, and it's the only one I've tried as I haven't had to look elsewhere. The ab sculpting DVD is the best.

Ah yes, it was Winsor Pilates. Bo-ring!

Anything else? Why do I want the MTV one, lol. Or maybe Pilates just isn't for me? I want to do it because everyone I know that does it has an amazing body! It works all the things I need worked.

^ Yep, it is boring but, the results are worth if that's the type of look you want.

The classes are a bit intimidating..I rememeber my first couple of classes my abs were so weak. Gesh, but once you get stronger it of course becomes easier. It usually takes about a week or so. I'd give it another try if I were you .

My sister has this one & I definitely felt more toned after doing it consistently for a couple of weeks (I still kept up my other exercises as well). It wasn't difficult or boring.

pilates is boring no matter what dvd it is... it's better to go to a class or just learn some basic moves and do them on your own.

I got 2 Windsor pilates dvds w/ a stability ball and the instructor is so damn annoying that I don't even want to use them. You can have mine if you want.

I like Gaiam's Pilates for Beginners with Ana Caban. She explains proper form very well and is not annoying like most fitness instructors. From there, I went to Intermediate Pilates with Ana Caban. Right now, I use Mtv Pilates. I don't recommend Mtv for newbies because it has zero explanations on technique. In Pilates, if you don't do the moves correctly, you might as well not do them at all. Form is important.

All the DVDs I mentioned are each about 30 minutes long.

Windsor Pilates truly is a bore. The pace is sloooowwwww. *yawn*

^^Thanks! I think I'll go with that one for beginners and once I learn to do everything properly, I'll buy the MTV one. Great, I'm excited now! I was beginning to think everything would be like Winsor!

It's funny that you guys hate Winsor and I love it. I don't find it boring at all, especially the advanced workout. The 20 min. one is a bit tedious, but hey, it's only 20 min.

I need to do some Pilates right now.

I find Windsor pilates more effective but my favourite DVDs are the Lara Hudson 10 minute solutions. Once you learn the routines you can take the moves that work best for you and create your own routine- she does lots of different moves.

I DO NOT recommend Denise Austin's series. Not a great instructional video and I find her very annoying personally. The one good thing about her is that she incorporates some very good stretching.
