    Default UTI question

Can yeast infections cause a UTI?

I think I saw blood in my pee after breakfast but flushed too soon to look further. Please say no I just got over a YI.

Yeast infections can't, but the cure can. The vagina has a delicate balance of yeasts and bacteria which feed off each other; you get a yeast infection when the yeasts take over, and BV when the bacteria do. Often the attempts to restore the balance can cause other problems, like a yeast infection when you take antibiotics. It's possible that your treatment of the yeast infection let the bacteria get out of control, and some of them made it into your urinary tract (which needs to be completely sterile).

Thank you. Do you know if a home test kit will work; such as, the Azo one?

No idea. The only thing I know to do is drink a ton of unsweetened cranberry juice, and go to the doctor if it burns when you pee.

Thanks. Gar I hope planned parenthood treats UTIs. Wisdom teeth being pulled on Tuesday and more antibiotics plus the possibility of a YI while on them and this possible UTI...god..could anything else happen down there???? Sorry, ranting.

No the AZO stuff won't cure it, it just makes it less painful until you can get treatment. Cranberry pills will help, but if you already have a UTI you're going to need antibiotics. If you have a regular dr. they may be able to prescribe you something over the phone without an office visit, my OB will do it for me for UTI's.

See I have no insurance. I also only wanted the test kit to see if I have a UTI and if I need to keep worrying or not. Or to go see a doc or not. I don't need more medical bills but I don't want to have an experience like Ginger_lee's from awhile back with a UTI.

What are your symptoms? Not a doc but I used to get UTI's ALL the time, It was really easy for me to get them for some reason. Then I'd get a bladder infection and usually my kidney would be next, real quick too.

So, if you feel like you have to pee all the time, but not much comes out, or if you feel an "odd" sensation while peeing, that's very likely a UTI. But if you feel a fluttery feeling in your bladder when you pee, see blood in the urine and you're not menstrating, then it's gone past a UTI.

I think PP will see you for a UTI, etc...but not sure.

Wanting to pee even though I just went pee. No bladder flutter feeling. Cloudy urine which sometimes I get anyways. For instance, I went pee 3 times today before I went out for breakfast. It does burn a little but I don't know because I thought I'm still dry from getting over my YI. Lemme just say that this blows.

K, sounds like it's still a UTI. See how fast you can get into PP and start drinking the Cranberry (unsweetened) and water now.

They suck, I feel for you sweetie.

If you want a cure right now, go to the healthfood store and buy oil of oregano. It is nasty as hell but it will get rid of it right away. I have the kind that has a dropper and I put like 15 drops in some juice and drink it real fast (it is horrible tasting). You will feel results really quickly. Than drink some more 4,8,and 12 hours later. That stuff works like a miracle. UTI's are the worst!

PP isn't open today so I'll just give them a call tomorrow and see what they say. *sigh* Thanks for the advice.

Thoes drug store test kits will work....but still may give you a false negative, so it isn't 100%

It's not to expensive to treat tho. I had a UTI, the doctors visit was $80, and the drugs was $55, I think.

You NEED to see a doctor and get the antibiotics pronto. Left untreated, a UTI can travel up to the kidneys, then your in for a world of hurt. Still left untreated, a kidney infection can land you in the hospital. And without insurance, you really can't afford that bill.

I know it isn't going to make you feel better but a large portion of bladder infections resolve on thier own. If I start to get one and i'm not running a fever I start pushing fluids with as much cranberry juice as I can manage. There is something in it that somehow inhibits the bacterias ability to cling to the bladder walls allowing it to be flushed out.

Hope you feel better soon, they're a bitch.

That something is Vitamin C I believe. But Cranberry juice has the best source of it? I think that's right, I think a nurse told me that once....eh, ya might want to look it up to be sure.

It's not actually the Vitamin C although that helps with infection in general.

Cranberry juice (you want 100% juice, not juice cocktail) produces hippuric acid in the urine which acidifies the urine and prevents bacteria from sticking to the walls of the bladder.
