FBI Wants Dress Code For Bank Customers
September 14, 2007 | Unknown
The FBI wants people to remove hats and sunglasses when they enter a bank, agents said.
Agent Larry Carr in Seattle said the agency is asking state lawmakers for a banking dress code to prevent robbers from covering their faces from surveillance cameras.
Missouri adopted a dress code. and bank robberies dropped significantly.
On Thursday, a man wearing a hat walked into a Bank of America branch in Lynnwood and demanded money.
Last month, surveillance video showed a man agents called the "Old School Bandit" robbing a bank as he wore a bandana across his face.
In July, a woman wearing a construction worker's outfit robbed a Wells Fargo bank in Des Moines.
In Olympia, a woman dressed in a witch's costume robbed a bank in 2005.
According to the FBI, there have been 113 bank robberies this year in the state. Two occurred Wednesday.
The FBI is expected to ask lawmakers to pass legislation forbidding banks from doing business with customers who are wearing hats and sunglasses. Some banks already have dress codes but the FBI is looking for a uniform standard.
Exemptions for medical and religious reasons could be filed at the branch you frequent.
I work in banking and i love the idea of this law. I was curious what you guys think of it?
