I really want to try one.
I get one once a month. I always feel better, less bloated, less gassy, flatter tummy. I have never lost more than 1.5 lbs tho, I think the claims you can lose up to 10lbs are for people who haven't shit in a year.
But be careful....once I ended up with a massive UTI. Everythign is sterile, but the poop still splaters all over your bum, which can spread to the vag, so make sure when you go to clean up you wipe very carefully from front to back, and clean up good.
yeah, it has been discussed....there are links to the threads down at the bottom of this page
I try and get one every time I go on a health kick. I really feel like I have more energy and I feel less "polluted." Its probably all in my head but I think its harmless as long as you don't do it like all the time.

How long does the process take?

Yes I am also interested in how long it takes.Do they use herbs in the water or is it just plain water?

I read in a recent issue of marie claire, i think that's what mag it was, that said colonics aren't really AMAZING for you. losing 1 pound isn't worth $100+ to me, i'll just starve myself for a day.
BUT - it could be different for different people.
^^ My colonic cost $50.
It takes 45 minutes, they use water, but at the end, the use some kind of flora mixture to replace the good bacteria. Then I drink a shot of Emercen C
Last time I went, I just laid there and watched 40 year odl virgin opn DVD while I had a tube up my ass. Dunno, I'm strange, but I like getting colonic, I just feel cleaner afterward.
I've been wanting to get this done..but I imagine it can be dangerous if not done right. I see a million places that do it..how do you know if they know their stuff?
I don't think it's dangerous. The dangers could be infection from unsterile equipment, but you can see if everythign is brand new and sterile before you do it.
The other danger would be the water pressure being to fast, and blowing a hole in your colon.
But...there are regulation valves on the equipment to prevent that from happening. At full power, you cannot get hurt. If it is to fast for you, or causing cramps, you control the water flow, and can choose to turn it down.
The temp. of the water is another factor, and ther eis a temp. gauge with a shut off valve. If the water temp would go over 104 degrees, it would automaticially shut off.
So it seems very safe to me.
I dont even care about the weight loss (but if I do lose then NICE!) but I just want to do it for its health benefits.
Shit impacted in your ass or colon is noooooo good!!!
I wouldn't go as far as impossible...equipment can malfunction...but there is safety measures in place to ensure that the pressure is regulated properly, and you can turn it up or down within thoes limits to suit your own comfort level.
At the place i go, I do everything myself. It's all set up for me, I insert the tube into my ass, cover with a sheet, then ring a bell. The colonic lady comes in and turns on the water for me, and asks if everythign feels right.
She puts in a movie and leaves.
If I start to get to crampy, I can turn the water down for a bit to ease the cramps, then turn it back up. If it gets unbarably cramy( which it shouldn't, but if your already on your period and having cramps or somethign, it might hurt) If it gets unbarable, you can shut it off yourself.
So if foe some odd freak of nature reason the pressure regulator broke and water just started spraying uncontrolably, and the emergency valve broke and it didn't shut down on it's own...you coudl shut it off manually yourself.
BUt the odds of this....so so rare. I have searched and searched for contraindications of colonics, or any issues with it, and honestly, I could not find anythin bad about them, and certainly no deaths reported or blown out colons.
It can happen....with an inexperienced staff, or faulty equipment......but just make sure you go to to a good place and you'll be fine.

I think this is cool and would love to give it a try if I had a lil more disposable income. It must be great to feel less "polluted," plus that feeling would probably give more motivation to eat healthy.
Does it differ from an enema in terms of depth, or otherwise?
Feature costumes for sale!
Yes. A colonic goes through the entire colon, but an emema only reaches the lower bowel.

is this the same kind of benefit as a colon cleanse fast?
