Default should i be on the calendar?

My club has asked me to be on their 2008 calendar. I did the test shoot today and then they will choose which girls they want to be on the calendar.

Part of me thinks it's a really bad idea because my family don't know that I dance but another part of me really wants to be on the calendar just because it's cool!!

My friend was on the 2001 calendar and her family never came across the images.

What if it comes back to bite me in the ass when I am a lawyer?

Well I'm sick of caring about that shit, seriously I could just deny it, it's only gonna have my stage name and I'll be all glammed up so I could just say "oh yeh that chick looks a bit like me"

If you have tattoos, cover them! It's not very likely your dad will be buying a stripper calender, is it? I don't know what your dad is like, but chances are he won't stumble upon it! Other than that, if any extended family comes along it it'll probably be so awkward they won't tell anyone else, including you

I think you should go for it! Sounds like loads of fun so why not Then you can brag about being in a calender!!!
At some point, most women (hopefully) realize that "the number" doesn't matter one iota and the notion of "slut" is just socially-generated bullshit meant to keep us "in our place". I will fuck who I please when I please and I don't give a rat's ass what anyone thinks about it.

I've done my clubs calendar twice. If your place is anything like mine, the circulation of those calendars is very small. Only customers of the club tend to see them, and the odds of most people saving theirs for any amount of time is very small.

If your future career will be in the same city though, you might want to reconsider just in case. There is always that small chance.

i worry about stuff like this because it could come back to haunt you. on the other hand, it sucks to not be able to do stuff like that. i won't take pictures for my club's ads even because i'm afraid of who might see it, even though my friends and parents know i dance. dont some of your friends not know, too? i dunno, i'd worry about it getting into the wrong hands... as a lawyer, honestly, people will take you way less seriously if that gets out.

If you are going into law, don't do it. It could come back to haunt you and law is very a very conservative profession. IMO

I would definitely NOT do it. Too risky! Unless you are planning to come live/work in the USA or somewhere else besides australia, i think its a bad idea.

I know it sucks, but I'm in the same boat

the calendar in question is a free calendar, if we are on the same wave length ... if so, be cautioned that they are handed out at many events - MG/CFL sponsor my boat cruises and we hand bout 100 out at each cruise times that by 10 cruises that is 1000 photographs of you out in the public to who you don't know ....

I really don't think it matters that your going to study law and you featured on a strip club poster/calendar - FFS 1/2 of the women @ uni put themselves through their course by participating in the model/adult industry (ie promo, hostess, waitress etc, private parties, stripping etc) I wouldn't be too worried, unless of course your going to be some big-wig QC who is constantly in the media ....

You got asked to do it? How cool! I saw the flyer in the changeroom so I assumed it was for everyone, didn't realise it was an exclusive thing. There goes my hopes for doing the test shoot ahaha!

But in all seriousness, I would NOT do it. Even if I was being paid.

Sure you're a dancer now but at the end of the day, are you hoping to make a living out of dancing or law? Career prospects aside, think about your family and friends (the ones who not yet know what you do). What would their reactions be? Would it create more strain on your relationships with them, or do you think it's possible that they'll become accepting of it over time? Different people act in different ways obviously, so it's better to scope all aspects of this issue before making a proper decision. And most importantly, which would you regret more: passing an opportunity to feature in a glamour calendar or running the risk of having your 'stripper identity' exposed?

Dancing is fleeting, but images last FOREVER. Better to be safe than sorry; just my two cents.

All very good points. I am not planning on being a big shot lawyer, just small time.I'd rather have my own small practice TBH hard work and climbing the corporate ladder is just not for me. I used to want to get into one of the top tier corporate firms but now I realise that would make me miserable.

I see most of this years calendars scattered across king's street in the early hours of the morning as most men either don't want to take home the evidence or just don't want the calenders (they are not nude afterall).

I really do want to do it but I am worried that someone will see it, recognise me and then word will get around. The only people who I care about finding out is my parents and my boyfriend's parents. I dont care if my friends find out anymore, I used to but couldn't care less now.

But what I was thinking is that if I was spotted couldn't I say I modelled for it but I dont work there? I mean, I know for some agencies they use models on their websites that don't even work for them.

small time OR big time....theres still a small chance your future clients could come across it...er..no pun intended!

i know it may not be the same, but have a photographer do some pics of you, photoshop them up all nice and glam, and make your own calendar!

then you could save it and look back and say "dammit i am HOT!"

Good chance it will bite you in the butt in the future. You can always get your own photos done.

A boyfriend found out through a friend who was looking on different websites discovered things that I did SEVERAL years ago. I didn't think that stuff was still out there. But yeah, it might not come out in a year. It might come out 10 yrs from now.

I wouldn't do it. My club has pics and posters of girls from a looooooooong ass time ago. Unless you want yourself circulating around for years I would not. It could hurt your "image" in the future.

I can relate Jaizaine, the managers at my club are always hounding me to shoot the clubs ad for the strip club magazine here in town. I'm totally flattered by it and want to have hot pictures of myself as well, but I'm just nervous about the pics being out there in the world. The one thing that always stops me is the fact that in this digital age and with the internet, they seriously could pop up years from now when I'm not even dancing and the club decided to do god knows what with them. I'm constantly seeing pictures of girls who no longer even dance at my club being used for promotional stuff.

I don't know. Maybe I'll do it with a wig and some fake tats.

Meh, if you can get yourself all glammed up and not so noticeable, it could be cool. On the other hand, its a calendar, not just a monthly or weekly dancer magazine. That would really up chances of being seen.

Well you said its not nude, and it is just a fun calendar. I don't see the big deal. My god...society can be so uptight! I say have fun NOW, and who gives a damn what people will think. I think it is awful how we have to make sure our jobs remain a secret to the "outside" world because we will be looked down upon and shamed for it. How are we ever to earn the respect we deserve for our job and hold our heads high if we keep hiding the fact that we dance nekked...and LOVE IT!!!

damn straight, I wish I didn't have to hide it either.
It's just a bikini photo shoot. The calendar from this year is really classy and beautiful TBH.

My big question is how much are they planning to pay you?and then for whatever amount that is, is it worth it to you? Even if somebody says the saw you on a Calender, it doesn't mean you have to admit to dancing, just make up an excuse as to why you did it, say you met somebody and you are so damn sexy, they offered you the job. =)

if they do not pay anything then i would turn it down, they are using you, making money off of you. If you want to be on a calender there are plenty of other places that will pay you. I think if you did it, that would be letting them take advantage of you,and thats no good.

I would say NO don't do it.

Why? They will have copyright of the images and will be able to use them for many many many years to come even if you have long left the industry.

Back home a dancer now working at my home club there has learnt this lesson well. She is the 'face' on some of the main stuff in re this club when she was blonde.

Go to the website actually www.playersshowgirls.com.au and the chick in the red with the blonde hair is now a brunette working at cheerleaders on the gold coast under a different name... that image is copyright that club.. nothing she can do about it.

    So no.

I would have said yes do it if you could actually make some money off the fact however since those calendars are handed out like candy (free) thus have no actual real value to you or anyone (no one values something they havn't paid for...it's fact)... don't do it.

No matter how awesome the images are and everything... it is only really worth it to girls who will be there for ages and/or are features or something along those lines.

thanks that's really good advise. I think I will have to satisfy my "ego" some other way and just do a photoshoot for myself or something.

I would advise against it for reasons that the others have already covered.

Or at least do a photoshoot for a website along the lines of www.PantyhoseAustralia.com which is a niche website thus you have to really be searching for it in order to find it and thus the photos of you on it (plus you could wear a wig if you wanted in the photo shoot to further add to your mysterious alter ego).
