Does anyone know where I can go and learn how to do my make-up?
Im not talking about becoming a make-up artist or anything but I would like to do a short course so that I can become better at doing my own make-up.
thanks

There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.
Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.
Doesn't napoleon have an academy in melbourne? (or is it sydney...) Anyway you should check it out - I'm pretty sure they do short courses
MAC offers a class occasionally at Nordstrom or their stores here. Ask your MAC counters and stores. Even if they don't offer classes, I'm sure you can book a 1-hour makeover at MAC and rather than having them just do your makeup, tell them you want to be taught.
hey ive never posted on here before but recently ive been looking threw all of the great (i love you latinarose!) makeup tutorials. i'd really love to go to a Mac counter and get them to do my makeup and show me some stuff but i was wondering whats an appropriate tip? Im assuming they make money off commision so how much do you have to spend to not be rude, and if you dont want to spend that much can you just give them a fat tip? im wondering what the proper etiquette is for all that, as a former stripper i would never want to fuck with someones tip![]()
ah yes i need this as well!
Most modelling schools/agencies do short courses in makeup.
The world's most uncoordinated stripper
Definitely make some enquiries at Napoleon. I'm pretty sure they run short courses for people who just wanna learn to do nice makeup, and they're hands down the best academy in Australia.
MAC employees are technically not allowed to accept tips, nor do they work on commission. They do have sales quotas to meet tho, so if you're just popping by for a quick application, I would buy at least a few of the products.
Personally, I think it's better to make the appointment for $50, which is redeemable in product. You get an artist all to yourself during that time and you can have her to do an entire look for you. Plus, it's not that hard to spend $50 at MAC.
Most stores however, just charge a fee and it's not redeemable in product. But the artists are amazing.

Thanks ladies. Darcy I have never tried Napolean make-up is it good? How does it compare to Mac? I wear prescriptives, nars, stila and mac so im pretty fussed with he quality of make-up. Geez I spend a lot on make-up.

You could always hire a quality make up artist to teach you. Some make up artists will gladly do one on one lessons to help you do your make-up as I'm considering doing something like this when I get back home at my home (since I can have troubles finding the time back home to actually GO somewhere even for a few hours).
