Default top of my hair is white/blonde

This is what I get for trying to be a supportive friend. My hairdresser friend opened his own salon and being a good friend I went to his salon to get my colour done. Well, he has done a full head of foils on me and I now have honey/caramel blonde hair on the ends and WHITE/BLONDE hair on the roots and top.

So tomorrow I am going to a different salon (the one I used to go to).
What should I do girls? My hair doesn't look good at all. I just feel like crying.

Should I ask them to tone it down? To put some darker blonde foils in it?

Why the fuck can't hairdressers just do exactly what I ask for. I showed him a fucking photo of what I wanted.

Since I have been blonde it seems no one can give me the colour that I want. I want a mix of about 3 diff tones of blonde.

^^^ hey now, I do a pretty damn good job of giving clients what they want! Just hop on a plane and come over to Denver and I'll fix ya up good

I just don't understand how this hairdresser let you leave the salon with uneven toned highlights... it's pretty much a rookie mistake- either he didn't unwrap a foil all the way to check to see if your hair decolorized evenly (the scalp ALWAYS processes quickly) or he didn't properly tone you at the shampoo bowl.

To even out the tone, your highlights will have to be glazed with a non-damaging, demi-permanent color to the darkest tone of your highlights- basically, your highlights will be honey colored from scalp to ends. Hopefully that's one of the colors you wanted...

^agreed. He probably didn't check the foils at the top to see how they were processing, and just assumed they were processing like the ones at the bottom.

And just ask them to match the top to the bottom. They may do a overall semi-perm on the top, but in case that is too monochromatic fo ryou, you may want to consider heavy lowlightson the top, that way the whit eblonde you have now will act as the highlights, and break up the color a bit.

Its called hot roots. Did you have no color on the new growth and color on the rest? If so, the part that wasnt colored will lift a lot faster than the colored part. Not only that but the natural heat from your head (body heat) will make the bleach process faster and therefor lift faster which makes it uneven.

I dont know why hairdressers dont all tone. Thats all you need. A toner. You need it not only to even out color but to fill the hair (bleach opens little holes in the cuticle)

Not only does it not look good, the color will turn brassy because it will absorb toxins in the environment.

I dont know if he used the same bleach on all the hair. If you want 3 different colors of blond he should have used 3 different levels of bleach to life the hair to different levels then put a toner on it which would made them all have the same tone but different levels....

Dont worry - this is a quick and easy fix.

And this is why I'm brunette again. I have ONE stylist that can give me the perfect blonde for me and she lives in AZ. It's so frustrating trying to find someone that can give you that perfect color. I gave up till I move back to the states. I hope your regular colorist can fix it.

I went to Rokk Ebony and they fixed it!! AudreyLeigh you were right all they did was put a toner on it. It looks a million times better and is not white anymore.

She didn't want to put any colour on it because she said let the hair have a rest and she didn't know what product the other hairdresser used (I think she meant what brand of colour). So I'll leave it for a few weeks and then I think I'll darken it up again - not brunette but I think a light brown with lots of highlights.

See... ahhh... so I DID learn something in beauty school... LOL

You want a full head of lowlights. I, personally would do really thin slicing with foils. Level 7. Find out what she does when you get it done. Like level and all. Im curious how someone else would fix this situation.

Glad ya got it all taken care of! Told ya - easy fix!

    ^^^
    thanks babe

is there any way that I can get the underneath to look more brunette and keep the top blonde so I look more llike a brunette with blonde highlights (but lots of them)? Does that make sense?

Yes. You want a partial lowlight on top (thin slicing) This will give you blond and brown on top then you want them to do a full color over the blond on the underneath part to make it just brown.

Im thinking 2-3 levels darker than your highlights. If your highlights are like REALLY REALLY blond (level 9) then a level 7 would look good. A level 6 will lead to even more contrast but may be too dark for you.

Too bad you live on the other side of the globe or Id do it for ya!

having regrowth will make it harder but it can still be done. In that case (depending on the hair and the person) I may just color the whole head and then go back and do a partial highlight on top.

Because once you have outgrowth theyd have to foil the blond part to touch up the roots and then put color on all the hair in between the foils and color the bottom.

In this case I could call it custom color and charge hourly rather than a flat rate. For that to be done itd be around $200. Not sure what that equals to in AUS or how much they charge over there. Everythings expensive in California.

Not only does she have nice hair but she has the killer body I hope to have someday soon. I have pics of her on my fridge (I know, pathetic)
