Default Best Self Help for Entire Life Books

Okay here's my question. Can anyone suggest some good self help books for changing your entire life? I'm just so frustrated w/ everything. I want to move, get a new job, etc. Instead of just bitching about everything, I was trying to think constructively. I'm good at applying things after reading books like that. Maybe if there were some good ones that broke stuff down & made it easier to manage. I don't even know if anyone knows what I mean, but I figured I might as well throw it out there.

In high school I read "Your Erroneous Zones" by Wayne Dyer.

    I really liked it.

I love Rabbi Harold Kushner... he does approach things from a Jewish perspective but his books are quite meaningful to Christians, Jews, and everyone else. I read his newest, Overcoming Life's Disappointments, not too long ago. He's also got one called Living a Life That Matters. They're both amazing and they put me back on track when I veered off.

I finished "Everything Happens For a Reason" by Mira Kirshenbaum. It was a great eye opener knowing there are so many things that I can't change. So now they have stopped weighing me down as much as they used to.

I liked Steven Covey's "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" but it is pretty mainstream..... Self-Help is a big genre, I'd recommend you browse the shelves at the bookstore & see what jumps out at you.

Not necessarily self-help but more in the New Age category:

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz has become very influential in my development of the self.

Wayne Dyer is amazing. I have read a couple of his books and listened to some of his tapes as well.

Paul Mckenna`s Change Your Life in 7 Days book, comes with free mind programning CD. It got me out of a very dark hole many years ago, and I still turn to it when I plateau (sp?) these days too.

Until Today by Iyanla Vanzant is really good. You read one page a day, so it's a really nice way to create changes in your life -- one new thought at a time.

I want to check out some of the other books mentioned above.

Old, good, reliable and cheap/free-- the Bible.

There's a lot of useful life guidance stuff in there. Ecclesiastes is a good start.

YES! The Four Agreements. That author is awesome. My ex actually bought a few of those books for me.. and you know what? I invoked strength from those books when I dumped his sorry ass!

oh.. and I know she's corny.. but I LOVE Suze Orman, and her books as well.

THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED by Scott Peck.

    From the back cover:
A National Bestseller for over two decades

    "Life is difficult."
With this first sentence, Dr. M. Scottt Peck revolutionized the way we live our lives, and it is no less true today than when it was written twenty years ago.
In this guide to confronting and resolving our problems-- and suffering throught the changes-- we learn that we can reach a higher level of self-understanding, The Road Less Traveled can help us learn the very nature of dependency from love; how to become one's own person; how to be a more sensitive parent.

    Worth reading at least once.
