Default Credit Reports new to dancing

I have a couple basic questions. I am completely new to dancing and have not told my mother yet and am not planning to with the fabulous laws that may go into effect in ohio. She said she saw on a credit report I was working at a club, supposendly. When I asked the gm he said it was not possible because I was never employed by them since I am an independent contractor. Is this possible? Also how do I go about taxes? I have been told many diffrent things about min. you have to make. Since I am only dancing on occasion to pay bills (I have school loans for my car & rent.) how would i go about this?

I interviewed for a job once that ran a credit background check. The employer said...So what did you do at Bayou Babes?

credit report: unlikely; what is listed there is your creditors, not your employers, usually

background check: more possible, especially if you have ever worked anywhere that required a sheriffs card or permit of some sort.

where 'authorized' agencies are concerned, these days a dancer has very little real anonymity.

Well, my CR says "The Body Shop" under employment. If you give this info when filling out an application for say an apartment, car, CC they will forward the info to the CR bureau. They use it to update your info on there. Same way they update your address and such.

All recent employers are listed on your credit report.

You generally can not dispute an employer on your credit report. Call the credit reporting agencies if you would like to try though. That isnt something that can be done online.

How an employer's name shows up is basically by how they file with the IRS. If the club or employer info is filed under a larger corporate name the heading it will show up different. Or as in this case if they file under their actual name then that will show as well.

But I am not employed by my club. My gm even told me. I am an independent contractor and since I do not get paid by them I am not employed by them.

Or does your mom "suspect" and is saying "working at a club" to see what you'll say. I would have responded, "Wha? What club does it say?" If she says she can't remember or that she doesn't know the name, she's lying.

In addition to inaccurate employment info, I also disputed 2 different CA's reporting the same derog as well as incorrect previous addresses.

I said generally because each credit reporting agency has differant policies about what you can and can not dispute online. It is also differant depending on how you pull your credit report. I pull my credit report each year on www.annualcreditreport.com. On there you can only dispute late payments and "negative" account information not your personal information.

^^^ If you are at freecreditreport.com (which is owned by Experian) you can dispute anything from all 3 bureaus. I have their monthly update thing so I always know whats going on... but with annual its different. I cant navigate their site for crap and forget when they send me to transunion. Thats why I went with Experians site. For me its worth $12.95 a month for peace of mind and free cr reports whenever i want...
