Thumbs down I hope someone can help...

Ok well, about a month ago, my husbands car got broken into and these people stole his wallet and used all of our credit cards.

Well, tonight we were outside having a smoke and we heard someone stop behind our house and open their door.?!?!?!

So we run back there (they must have heard us coming) and the people close the door and drive off down the alley.

So we get in the car and start chasing them. We follow them all the way down the loop to the other side of town.

They must have known they were being followed because they were turning off wierd ways.

Well to make a long story short, i have their license plate number and what kind of vehicle they have.

Do any of you know of a FREE website to do a reverse lookup?

Any info is greatly appreciated.....and yes, we called the cops and gave them all the info.

... can you hire a PI??? they are working for YOU, not the county/city/state nor some bureaucracy.

Could these people just have been dumping something? I'm confused as to why you'd chase people behind your house? Was it in your backyard? How'd they get a car there? Details?

I think you should change the locks to your house, i know you didnt specify whether or not the was a possibility that they could get some, but just for caution, i recommend. You should probably also install a car alarm and put a wheel lock on there. Keep your car very clean. If you car looks like there is nothing in it, then there is chance, that somebody might not wanna break in coz there is nothing to get anyway. Even keep the change holder empty, some people are desperate. I suggest not to leave wallets or purses in the car any more, also don't leave any valuable such as CD's or clothes And if you must put them in the trunk, underneath, where the spare tire is kept. Try to keep your trunk clean or empty. You should probable also keep your car in the garage for now on. Install an alarm in your car, house and garage if its possible.

Now that you have this information you should probably alert all of you neighbors. Tell them what happened. Tell them to keep an eye out. If everybody is aware you can possibly get this person caught. Suggest that they keep their cars clean and inside for safety. Was the car that you were following new or old? Is there a was you can have to police or a PI look into who the car was issues to? You should also talk to the DMV too. See if they can help you in addition.

I know you wanted to catch these people, but it kinda worries me that you followed them. What happens if it was an armed psycho? you wouldn't want to get anybody hurt. Also next time you are chasing a car call the police so the can know while the person is out driving, them might get caught and pulled over.

Ok well we live by a gated community and right behind our house is an ally and
then a field that runs along the alley for about a mile so yes we park back there

sometimes. (we have a combined total of 7 cars and only a two car driveway,
and the 2 bikes are in the garage) there is an alarm on the car btw. and yes we

have told the police......i stated that in my first post. it was a kind of spur of the
moment thing when we went to chase them. as i said, we were having a cigg on

the side yard and we heard a car stop and a door open so i start walking back
there. i was wearing flip flops so of course they heard me coming so i heard the

door close and they drove off. we got into the car with nothing because we
forgot our cellphones on the table outside. (so we couldnt call the police as we

were following them. all i was wondering was if anyone knoew of a website to show where they lived because i have a feeling the cops wont do anything.

Not that i would do anything harmfull to them I just thought it might help me knowing who the hell they were and if we knew them or any of our friends knew

    them somehow.

You can find anything....but of course it costs money. I just read this online - and make no claims as to its accuracy:

    * The first method is to hire a private investigator. Find your local phone book and turn to the private investigation pages. Start calling and get prices for how much they charge to run a license plate trace. You can expect to pay $150 to $300 to get this service completed in your local area.

    * The next method is to use a large online private investigation service like Abika.com or BestPeopleSearch.com. These services will charge you $79 or more to search by license plate number. You will normally get back a combination of the following information: the first and last Name, address, registration and expiration date, make and model of vehicle, VIN number, title number, lien holder name. These services can normally get information for most states in the United States as Canadian Provinces. License plate data for additional countries are also available depending on the service.

    * The third option is to join a private investigation tools membership service where you have access to databases and resources used by private investigators. These memberships normally start at $29 to $59 per year and give you access to all sorts of people search databases used by private investigators. This is a good choice if you're willing to do the work yourself and you want to save a little money. The downside to this option is there is no guarantee that you will be successful in your search.
