I'm half-Asian, so I'm naturally a dark brunette. Most of my Asian friends dye their hair and would kill to have my color. However, I smother my hair with neutral black dye. I don't want highlights or anything. I love having straight, sleek, shiny, raven hair. My eyebrows are naturally black, which means it actually looks natural. The contrast of raven hair with my porcelain pale skin is quite beautiful. When I was a brunette, it would bleach in the sun and would look kind of blah with my skin tone.
I finally found a natural-looking color, L'Oreal Feria in Black Leather. It's not all fake bluish or purplish like most black dyes. I look at old photos of when I used the blue-black formulas and realize how fake it looked. I also don't use any of those color-treated hair products, which allows the color to fade and look natural. I can get away with only dying my hair about four times a year due to the fact that my natural color is dark and doesn't show roots until they're over an inch long.
Does anyone else eschew highlights and bleach in favor of black dye?
