Default Bed Head Flat iron, Bed Head curling iron

...Now, I'm old n wise to know that the bomb hair styling products does not equal the bomb styling tools necessarily....

I just saw these @ Walgreens, they new or what, or I just never saw them b4?

    Know anyone who uses them?

I was looking at these too. I read in the fine print they they are made by Helen of Troy (I know some people have had good experiences with that brand). But no I haven't used them personally.

Invest in a good flat iron. I bought one for $40 at Sally's (on par with Helen of Troy), and I wore the ceramic off in a matter of months. Go for a 100% tourmaline one. The cheap ones can't heat up as well, and they damage more. Go for a Solia or a Sedu from folica.com.

I got my hair done at Toni & Guy for a year and a half and their stylists didn't even use their styling tools.

I use FHI from folica.com and LOOOVEEE IT! it was around $200 i believe but worth every single penny!

OMG, Andrea at Toni & Guy Chandler Mall (she used to work at Scottsdale) is the best colorist you will ever meet. She is AMAZING. My mom even goes to her now. Partial highlight for me was $85, so not too expensive either for a senior artist. If you go to her, tell her Rose from Skin sent you please. I so wish I could still have her do my hair, I'd still be that perfect shade of blonde! I miss her

If you need a cut, I think it was Melissa or Misty or something like that (Andrea only does color). I liked her the best. Don't let Trevor cut your hair.

I highly HIGHLY recommend Andrea to any girls in Phx that want fantastic color!

Thanks! Yea I'm def getting one that costs more than $70

Wondering about the curling iron still....

...But I'm about to buy real human hair, and have the salon sew in the extensions and then highlight.

I'm still confused as to how to style extensions correctly, but I know there are countless threads on that. But if the next person who reads this just happens to have some cliff notes handy, that's cool.

Don't worry...the hair ain't comin from Sally either!

I didn't want to start another thread over this, but wtf is T3? Is it a brand of flat irons or is it a type of material like ceramic?! I want a new flat iron and I my CHI, but I want the BEST! And my hair is coarse and crazy curly.

Agreed. I have an FHI Heat 1" platform which is awesome. It has adjustable temperature and it's always hot.

$240 ... what kind of hair texture do you have, babe? If it's fabulous (and won't break easily!) I suppose that's a reasonable price... I just wish it was $140 less...

P.S. Do you know anything about their styling products?

P.P.S. I'm on the GHD site now and I want the hot pink one!!

My stylist got Bedhead flat irons and dryers to try and says she loves them. According to her (and the rest of the spa) so far, they appear to be on par with the CHI and FHI. I haven't tried them, I heard this while scheduling my next appointment. BTW to everyone who spends a fortune on the T3. They all tried the dryers and said they were crap compared to the other high end ones (Babyliss, Solia, Sedu, etc.).

This is the top of the line spa in the area and they really know their shit. They've even been featured in a few of those makeover shows. So you might be able to save a little.

Narrow plates are better for creating curls with...
Hot tourmaline attracts dust (out of your hair (= shiney hair) But if you don't clean your plates already, erm give them a wipe every now and then?)
I found humming a slow song made me do each section properly (= instant super silk) rather than zipping through absentmindedly (= straight but kinda hot, scratchy, dry-ish and NOT super silk!)

ALSO try finishing each layer with the cold setting on your dryer as you go... (seriously!!)

I just purchased the Ergo Pro Sleeker

LOVE it! Most platform artists use Ergo products and after purchasing a dryer and flat iron from them, I can see why!

Tourmaline, ceramic, and titanium plates, LIGHTWEIGHT, goes up to 410 degrees (although I never use higher than 392 on color treated hair), between a floating and fixed plate (important because you can use it to do ribbon curls or take larger, uneven sections without pulling or creasing the hair), heats up fast, and there's a one year warrenty which includes damage caused by dropping the product... after one year, you can send in the product for any repair and it's $25. Just make sure you keep the receipt.

There is some confusion over what tourmaline and negative ions do for the hair... Tourmaline naturally emits negative ions which react to the postitve ions in the hair causing the outer cuticle layer of the hair to constrict. Tighter cuticles make the hair look shinier, smoother, and dries the hair faster since the constricted cuticle forces the hair to expell water from the cortex.

A tighter cuticle also lessens the diameter of the hair, so if you have fine, limp hair, using tourmaline and negative ionic tools will not help you to acheive a look of fuller, voluminous hair.

Hmm, thank you for posting this! I STILL don't own one, lol lazy stripper. I'd like to be able to get one tho before the time comes when I will be able to drop $240 on anything I want (you feel me right? lol that'll be awhile) I might get the Bedhead one eventually. I think $80 is still a good price range for an iron, and not considered low-end.....gotta be a huge diff than the real cheapy ones. There was this girl I worked with actually who's one heated up with water inside it, it was the bomb and even strong on me (she was black) and hers was like $80.
