    Lybrel Birth Control

I've been taking TriLevlin 28 for about 4 years now. I just went to a new gyno this month and he seemed very excited about Lybrel and that it means no periods ever. Personally I'm not too concerened with bleeding, mine is never that bad. But I do get major PMS which he said continuous birth control might help. I've read some things on here about how many of you have had positive results with continuous birth control, does anyone have any complaints about it? (other than breakthrough bleeding). And does anyone have any opinions on Lybrel in particular?

I'm excited about potentially helping my PMS, but I'm so worried about changing pills since Trilevlin has been so good to me!

Have you tried Lybrel yet? I'm just starting it, and I'm wondering what your experience has been.

That's what they said about Depo. I think it will depend on everyone's body individually how it will affect your bleeding, etc. Just like how the patch and the pill and the shot and the ring all affect us differently.
Depo stopped my bleeding like they said. But I still spot occasionally and I started Depo seven months ago! I only spot often enough to ruin every pair of panties I own!

But maybe this new stuff is better. Good luck with that, sweetie!

Good luck with the Lybrel. I am taking Yaz and while I haven't gotten a period in a couple months, I am SO much happier/calmer on it because the hormones stay the same the whole month. Even my boyfriend mentions how much nicer I am without having any crazy ass hormone changes!

Yes, I'm on Lybrel...been on it now for 3 months. I haven't decided if I'm staying on it or going back to my trilevlin 28. I've been spotting for a month now....it's annoying. It makes me feel dirty and I hate wearing panty liners! LOL! I also have realized I'm paranoid. I don't get a period now so if I think about it too long I begin to think I might be pregnant. I think I can get over my paranoia and the spotting is supposed to subside, but the one thing that's tough for me is that it's $50 a month! I can afford it, but I just think that's outrageous when my last bc was $26 a month. So I don't know what I'm gonna do yet....the great thing is though that I don't get my monthly bitchfest anymore - it has helped to illiminate my PMS which I'm sure the people in my life might say is worth the extra money per month! LOL!

Good luck. Let me know how it goes for you!

Thanks for the input! I actually just started it because I can't *stop* spotting on any freaking birth control, it's making me nuts. I'm going off everything for a month then I'm going to try again. I hope I don't spot forever, that'll make me nuts lol. (or wait, it already is). Thanks!

Funny, this is the other birth control my OB suggested, she said either Yaz or Lybrel. I may try Yaz if Lybrel doesn't work out.

I understand why it might be cool not to have a period anymore, but I kinda think that maybe it's not so good for you? It's fucking with nature and all.

Yeah, I'm happy with it. I was a pchychotic bitch (more than I normally am) on other BC and my periods were REALLY heavy. I was tired of it. I'm not sure if I'm doing better on it because of the different dosing schedule or because it's a different kind of hormone, but I don't care cuz I'm happy!

Well, to be honest I kinda think all of it is unnatural, I mean, I really don't think that all the hormones in birth control are really good for you period, but if it comes to that or having a baby I'm not ready for...well, ya know.

As far as the research that's been done, not having a period seems to be safe. (Spotting is just likely to occur).

How are the side effects with Yaz? Spotting? Weight Gain? Break outs? Is it expensive? Maybe I'll try that....and you get periods a couple times a year right?

I take yasmin continuously and it rocks. No period, no pms, no weight gain, and I seriously don't get pimples anymore on my face or back. Oh yeah and my breasts got a cup size bigger and stayed bigger too! The other pills I tried were shit and made me super depressed, but yasmin fucking rocks.

Yeah I guess that's why I can't take them anymore. Hormones do unnatural things to my body and brain. Sort of like being pregnant although worse. I don't trust it....

I haven't had any spotting, no weight gain, my breakouts got a little lighter, and no PMDD anymore! I was a little tired the first month I took it but that went away on it's own, and I haven't gotten a period at all since I've been taking it. The doc said it does that to some people though, but other than that I am loving taking it. It's $50 a month where I live, but it is SO worth the cost to not have all the issues I've had going on re:period.
