Thumbs down USPS M.O.s- Stripper's Best Friend CHOKES!!!!

Well, I had the most unpleasant experience. A week ago, I mailed a US Postal Service Money Order by Three Day Priority Mail to my home address. The $ amount was in the multiple hundreds.

It never showed up on time. I took both receipts to the Post Office today only to be told that I can't even file a "lost or stolen" claim for SIXTY DAYS!

Which means several hundred of my hard-earned dollars are floating in a "vacuum" somewhere. Or more likely, the mailman accidentally delivered it to the tweakers across the street and they forged an ID to cash it in.

This is the first time EVER I've had a problem with the USPS. Seriously. & I'd rather not have problems with them, as Money Orders are "the stripper's best friend."

I'm sharing mostly to complain, but also to warn you to get the fricking "Confirmation Delivery" or whatever insurance the Post Office is being mercenary about right now. (I didn't get Confirmation because I was going to be too busy to check on it, and I never had a problem...Until now.)

i use postal money orders ANYTIME i get a money order.

did you keep the other half of it (your reciept)? if you did, yay!

taken from the usps site: Damaged, Lost or Stolen Money Orders
If your money order is damaged, lost or stolen, you can have it replaced. If someone endorses a money order over to you that you suspect is stolen, you can contact the United States Postal Inspection Service™ for help.

    here is the link: http://www.usps.com/money/sendingmon...rs/welcome.htm

so, if it did end up in the wrong hands, it's not your fault. xoxox

The good thing about the "tweakers" across the street (if they did cash it) is that it gets them in trouble on 2 levels. 1) Forging a money order, but the best one is 2) tampering with Federal property--ie the mail--since they opened an envelope that was not addressed to them nor intended for them. If they cashed the money order, it would just be icing on the cake.

Signature Delivery is better. Delivery Confirmation doesn't prove shit. It just proves that it made it to a mailbox somewhere. SIGNATURE delivery, however, proves who actually signed for it. Spend the extra $0.57 and just get signature delivery.

I think your money will probably show up in the next day or so. Sometimes the USPS is agonizingly slow. Like I once mailed a payment from my house (about 1 hour outside of chicago) to a business IN chicago...and it took 1 1/2 weeks. But, their invoice to me took 2 days. Nice. LOL

Just relax...your money will show up...just call every day and see if the money order has cleared...if it hasn't, then you're ok...and if it did, then you're still ok.

^ No...you can add Signature confirmation to just about anything. I sent a First Class letter to my lawyer once, and used Sig Conf. I did double-check, though (I hate to be wrong, LOL)...and they have Sig Conf for the following:

First-Class Mail® Parcels - Envelopes and small packages weighing 13 ounces or less. Applies only to boxes or envelopes measuring at least 3/4” at thickest point.
Priority Mail® - Cost effective delivery in an average of 2-3 days.
Package Services Parcels - For parcels mailed as Parcel Post®, Bound Printed Matter, Media Mail® and Library Mail.
Parcel Select® - Send large volumes of packages at a discount.

The USPS is a crapshoot around here. I"ve had packages go missing...where the mailman SWORE he delivered it...yeah..to WHO I dont know. Cause I didnt get it. I've logged in MULTIPLE complaints for mail gone missing. Either the mailman is a complete illiterate who just drops mail off wherever...or he's taking any interesting packages home, and scanning them as delivered.

I've gotten other peoples mail too. Almost on a weekly basis.

As a result..when I can, I send by UPS or FedEx. Or use sig confirmation when I'm sending something important...USPS is just WAY too incompetant IMO

When you buy a money order to mail your money home, endorse it on the back with "For deposit only" along with your signature and bank account number (no one will know which bank the account number belongs to so it's safe). That way no one can do anything with it but deposit it in YOUR bank account.

I forgot to mention I had to pay 5 dollars to file the Lost or Stolen claim form....Cerously.

OTOH, I'm really chummy now with the two guys who run the Post Mail Box Office. LOL

It costs even more money to recover your money which they lost in the first place, lol. I hate being given this whole runaround, I would be pissed.

Phew... at least you got your money back, even if it ended up being $5 less. I have a stripper-related paranoia about losing my hard-earned bankroll. I don't even like having cash at home. I'm afraid someone will break in and take it all from me! Glad everything turned out okay.

    Seriously USPS in Fl. SUCKS!

I paid by paypal and had a snake shipped out. Was to be fedex ONLY, as they allow me (ah they take anyone actually) i have a license to exhibit so....anyway. My snake arrives USPS around 4:00pm in Fl. running in the 90's! I about shit.

He said he got the order from the seller. I was furious. BUT on the box (and i paid for priority overnight as well) it said live animals, handle with care.

I HATE USPS, but they are not supposed to ship snakes anyway...still he knew it was a live animal, he told me he wondered waht it was. I contacted the seller and USPS was not supposed to get that package. I had no tracking orded which did make me upset, with fedex you get tracking...Again, the damn USPS guy read the box but would not deliver for the sake of a live animal.

I accept nothing i purchase live from USPS...they are not supposed to deliver those type of packages.

I prefer fedex then UPS. After that...out.
