My favorite season is comming up!!!!!

First we have all the haunted houses which I love love love!! Vegas girls...Who's going to haunted hosues with me????

Then I get to get all dressed up and give out candy to the kiddies.

Then I get to cook up a huge turkey and all that shit, even though I have nobody to feed it all to. Last year I made a 13 lb turkey for my boyfriend.
Again, anyoen in Vegas, feel free to come over for Thanksgiving.

After Thankgiving it's time to decorate for Christmas!!!!
And shop, and put up a tree, and the best part, bake cookies!!!!
ANyone want Christmas cookies, please get on my mailing list. I always bake way to much and noone to eat them all.

Also my annual christmas party is commign up!!!

Then New Years Eve in Vegas. The fireworks are amazing!
Then all the awesome after christmas sales, and shopping for new clothes.

After New years my birthday is just around the corner!!!

    OMG..I'm already gettign so excited...

I love fall and winter. I love it so much mroe in Vegas without snow and ice and below freezing weather.

I am with you! I couldn't wait for this summer to be over. The power went out on our block a few times and we had to leave the house so we wouldn't overheat. I used to hate colder weather but the winters are kinda fun here.

Geez I don't even feel right calling it "winter". Where I am from, it is winter over half the year, and everything is covered with several feet of snow the whole time.

You can have Halloween and Thanksgiving anyway!

Buy candy, decorate your house, dress up...then sit home and eat your candy!

Buy a turkey, make some mashed potatoes and stuffing, and you got Thanksgiving.

Winter....order some spray snow in a can off the internet and go to town.

I did thanksgiving last year. Spent hundreds of dollars, bought an organic turkey... and only ONE person showed up! After all that. And I am SO celebrating Halloween anyway. I had hoped to spend it with Lover, but he ditched me, so I'll spend it with my friend Amy!! This time though I'm MAKING people come to my thanksgiving... none of that 'oh I guess you can have leftovers tomorrow' crap. EAT NOW OR NOT AT ALL.

Hmmm... I wonder if that canned stuff will melt in the heat. :x

I really kinda miss home. First time in two years. I want a real thanksgiving.

Sorry, I totally didn't mean to jack your thread, you just made me homesick.

awww. I'm sorry I made you homesick.

I would come to your Thanksgiving dinner. I know how bad it sucks for noone to show up. I spent over a grand on my first Christmas party, and out of the 35 confirmed to show, only 5 actually showed. I was PISSED.

Awwww, yeah, that's how I felt. They all cancelled the DAY OF to tell me I should've picked a day they didn't all work. WTF I gave them 3 months notice! My turkey was already thawed! I imported my pumpkin for the pie and dressing for the dips! Ungrateful....^&*%)()....anyway....

Tell me more about your holidays. Tell me what you're dressing up as and your favourite Thanksgiving food. Tell me about it... please?

At least people called you to cancel. All my epople jus never showed. I called them, and they'd say yeah, we'll be there in an hour....

I bought sooo much liquor for that party...to this day I astill have most of it left over, which is why I throw a party every year now. Just to try and use up all that liquor.

I make a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, and cook like an army is comming to eat, although it's just me and my boy and his grandparents, who eat like...old people. I always have a shit load of leftovers, and waste a ton of food, but I so love cookign all of it.

I make a turkey which was brined all night for the moist moist turkey ever. I make homemade stuffing from scratch, starting with toasting a loaf of bread in the oven.

homemade mashed taters, pumpink pie for everyone else and chocolate pie for me.

I'll make candied yams and creamed spinach and carrots cause i like em.

I think I'm gonna decorate the table with a cornacopia just cause I like that word. Cornacopia.

For Halloween, i just bought a Halloween gingerbread house kit thingy I can decorate, I live in a huge apartment complex, so I figure it'll be a ood place for kids to trick or treat at...I dunno what I'm gonna dress up as, but I'm gonna hand out tons and tons of candy.

It kind of sucks that it's just me and my boy in vegas, we don't have many friends, and our only family is his grandparents, but I don't really care.

When I lived all by my self, I still cooked a Thanksgiving dinner and ate it on my best dishes. For Christmas, I woudl put up a tree, buy myself gifts and open them on christmas day.

I enjoy the holidays and don't think I need anyoen to celebrate and enjoy them. Sure..having family around is better...but since I don't have any, I won't let that stop me from enjoying something I love.

Since you don't have halloween, If I were you, I'd get all dressed up, buy my favorite candy, and rent all the old scary movies. Steven King stuff, all the Haloween's and Jason's.......then I'd sit in my costume eat my candy and watch the movies and have a ball all by myself.

Do't let anythgin stop you from doing things you enjoy. You might have to modify it a little, but so what?

    And that's all that matters!

And wth? The other women from your location I know can't sneeze without finding a reason to wear a new costume and look good doing it. You'd think they'd all jump at the chance to celebrate the very epitome of said activity, regardless of logistical limitations.

Ah well, I get to help with a Thanksgiving this year, I am totally looking forward to that!

I loooooooove Halloween, it's by far my favorite holiday of the year.

Thanksgiving is ok, but Xmas can suck a dick. I'm a total Scrooge and every year I do less and less to acknowledge the holiday. It's such a pain in the ass.

I'm going to be in a small town in the middle of nowhere for Halloween, so hopefully the locals will be fun. Thanksgiving will be in Philly with the in-laws, and while they are sweet they aren't big cooks, so I'll get to satisfy my love of cooking holiday food. And Christmas will be in the country in TX with my mom and my sister, which is always great and awesome and way more about baking cookies than presents. It's going to be a nice holiday season!

Thankyou for at least getting me excited about fall. I dread winter so much, its so cold and snowy and icy and yucky here. But i just bought furry boots from Aldo and halloween is right around the corner! And yummy Thanksgiving and hot cocoa and all that delicious stuff...cheers to winter fat just means I have to hit the gym more.
Oh and I can buy a cute coat and some hats!

I am SO with you on this one!!! Except I get to go home for Christmas this year! Last year the flights were too expensive so I didn't get to go. It was my first Christmas away from home. I called my family and cried so hard on the phone I couldn't even talk... I just sobbed for 10 minutes and eventually they just hung up because there was nothing else to do.

That night I got really fucked up. And I mean really fucked up.

This time I booked my Christmas flight in July.

And I will always go home for Thanksgiving too. This year is going to be really great cuz I have a special gift for someone in my family. I'm going to spend some quality time with my dad who has been having health problems lately.

Ya know- I don't know if this makes sense or not, but family is family. Even if you hate 'em they're still a part of you.

Yay! So much to look forward to!!! Thanksgiving is my most FAVORITE holiday. And Easter. And Christmas. I like New Year's too.

    Good thread!!!

Edit- but Taylor, the one thing I don't miss about home is the cold weather! The only good thing about it is the snow. Some of my best memories are white Christmases. <le sigh>

Well, I've posted several times about how halloween is my fav holiday and how we throw a huge party every year! I cant wait!! I'm thinking of being Rollergirl this year....if for no other reason then to see the OMG looks on hubbys co-workers faces!(who have no idea what I do for a living!)

Thanksgiving we go out to breakfast..then go buy a Hess truck.I make a HUGE Thanksgiving dinner every year too..even thought its usually just hubby and me. It just feels good to have that turkey roasting all day and pies baking...all of it!

Christmas...we do a tree and presents, but again..it's usually just us. Friends drop by during the season..but Christmas day is spent watching A Christmas Story over and over...plus all our tapes of old x-mas cartoons...Grinch, snoopy,etc....

OMG! I love the holidays more and more! Last year was our first year in the house and everything was so strapped that I'm surprised I didn't pull out all my hair! This year is going to be so nice. Having family over, eating all those great foods and sweets, and oh man baking makes me all warm inside, and there's always a friendlier feeling during the holidays!
