Default twisterinAZ and Lola Rose's workout challenge

Well. This is our thread to bust ass and get in shape.

Pm's are limited to 50, so I think a thread will be the best way to keep all this together without having to constantly delete old messages.

    1. to only eat light options if I am in a resturant

    2. cook more, so I'm eating more healthy at home. and b/c in cooking makes me think extra about what I'm doing.

    3. Snack low calorie and healthy

    4. to stop bored eating, especially at work.

    5. To work out for a minimum of 40 minutes a day, m-f

    6. To take long walks on saturday and sundays (walking my dog, or shopping!) and to stretch.

    7. To measure and weigh myself every monday.

    8. To keep a food and exercise journal

    9. To not stress over the little things, like having a little bit of candy or ice cream, but to also not make it a habit.

    10. 3 veggies and 3 fruits a day.

    11. lots of protein (40g a day).

    12. 5 full glasses of water to flush out toxins.

ummmm. I think that's it..... do you wanna report back everyday what we did the day before, or do you have any other ideas.....

I was thinking that maybe we could do a thread in bb or member boards, since 50 pms goes by quickly, and I'd like to look back.

oh, and I'll repete my stats from this monday:

    113lbs.
    5' 1.5''
    34-28.5-34

    I want a 24-26'' waist, I'm not bothered by the hip/bust....

and I'd like to be down to about 100-105. that range looks best on me, I've got a teeny tiny frame. and this extra 10 looks more like 20 on me, b/c it's all junk food and fast food.

I really feel like I let myself go! I was 102 just 2 months ago, and now I feel stuck here....

    oh, and my biggest challenges:

    1. hidden calories like sugar in my tea, or butter and lots of jams on my toasts......

    2. I <3 sweets. (I'm trying to supliment low cal things, like sherbert and fruit rather then ice cream and caramel.... but it's tough.)

    3. I'm lazy. I hate to say that, but it's the truth.

    ok, your turn!!!

    <3 me
    Hi

Wow. You are very serious and thorough. That's awesome and it will be good for me to have some added motivation.

    1. I need to cut back on calories from alcohol. I love wine but I'm drinking too much.

    2. Eat at home more so I can control portion sizes and avoid hidden fat in restaraunt foods

    3. I need to eat more vegetables and cut WAY back on starch and sugar

    4. Consistently work out an hour a day (at least) 5 days per week

I have put on about 10 lbs since I stopped dancing in January but now I want to go back to work and I need to get my killer little body back. Yesterday I weighed in at 129. I'm 5'5 so I would like to get down to 118. I would also like to lose at least 2inches off my waist. We should also take measurements to record progress.I'll go and get a tape measure today. The food journals are a great idea.....

OK girl, lets get started ! No junk food today . Damn I want a cupcake.....Oh , and I think you should allow yourself more protien that 40g per day. When I had a trainer, he recommended that I get at the very least 70g per day. I'm bigger than you though. Just a thought...

    Good luck
and let me know if you start another thread. I'm not even sure I know how to get to member boards. 4 years later and I'm still a newb.
you're right, I meant to type 60g protein. I have a particularly hard time getting enough protein. I'm a vegetarian at heart, lol.

but rob is a big meat eater, so I've aten a lot more of it lately.

I think we'll be great buddies, since our goals are so similar! (about 10 lbs and 2'' off the waist). And I think they're very attainable, which is great for motivational purposes.

good luck, and I'll see you tomorrow, I'm off to work out

(oh, and I was bad, I ate a handfull of licourish..... or however it's spelled.... but it was only a small bit, so bad me, but not horrible me )

and btw- member boards is the unmoderated part of SW where anything goes. So I don't think it'll be a problem for us to have this thread here or ask others to please keep posts to a minimum. But if there's anything you want to keep private, just send me a pm.

    <3, me

great job! I'm loving it too

so here's my report on yesterday, wed. the 26th

rice krisps w/ banana and milk
    (1 fruit, 10 g. protein, 1 water)

2 eggs scrambled with corn and leftover chicken
    (2 veggies, 30 g. protein, 2 waters)

15 minutes each: The Firm: yoga, power walking, and bellydancing
    (45m. workout, 1 water)

    necterine
    (1 fruit, 1 water)

    licourise: about a handful

    yogurt and a cheese stick
    (16 g. protein)

    pasta and veal meat sauce
    (1 veggie, 35 g. protein, 1 water)

so I did pretty well! I think I deserve a big grinning face!
I did 5 extra minutes working out, ate tons of protin (91 g.!) and 6 glasses of water. I did need to eat 1 more fruit though.

I hope your day went as well as mine did, and wow, I'm impressed! I hope by the end of this I'm back in shape well enough to go for a run!

O.K. You can swat me on the nose with a newspaper and make me go to my room for jumping in BUT - If you are trying to trim down WHY all the carbs and sugar ? Rice Krispies ? One of the most nutritionally empty things you can eat.
Bananas and nectarines- loaded with fructose = SUGAR !
Milk- lactose - More SUGAR !
Corn and pasta ? - more carbs.

You'll get a LOT further faster by cutting out the sugar ; cutting down on the carbs and replacing them with more low-sugar veggies.

um, so thanks for the UNSOLICITED advice, but I know my body, and I do have reasons for eating what I eat.

and you do need calories, btw. calories are energy. the cereal is fortified, and the fruits have lots of vitamins as well. I want a healthy, well balenced diet, not just one where I cut out all carbs/sugars. Milk is very good for a person as well, and is something I quite enjoy. Corn as well. and some carbs are good for you, as long as it's not too many.

oh, and I don't need to loose super fast, I want to slowly lose weight and tone, without losing all of my favorite foods. 10 lbs in 3 months, yo.

    so thanks, but no thanks.

    Seriously, what the hell?

Since when is eating fruit bad? Some sugars are good for you, your body actually needs them. Sugar in the form of most dairy, fruit, etc are great for you. Sugar is only bad when it comes in the artificial, processed form, like candies, soda, white bread.

Carbs are necessary too. Cutting out whole food groups is never a good idea. Carbs in moderation, and of the good variety (i.e. whole wheat), are necessary for energy. I know personally, eating some pasta before a hard workout gives me the energy to get through it, whereas otherwise I'd be exhausted halfway through.

What you are suggesting Eric IS a way to fast weight loss. However, it's also the same way people lose weight quickly, then put it back on and then some soon after. Lola and Twister have a sensible, balanced diet and exercise plan, with the ability to lose weight in a manner that is SAFE, healthy, and the recommended loss of a 1-2lbs a week.

(Sorry to hijack your thread girls, but his post annoyed me haha)

Sugar is sugar and carbs are carbs. You can and should get your carbs from vegetables if you are trying to burn fat. Fruit has valuable nutrients and you can eat it on a MAINTENANCE program.
Rice Krispies are "fortified" after all the nutritional value has been processed away
AND sugar is added. READ the ingredients !
Milk is for calves and babies.

I am naughty. I slipped majorly. Had about 15 beers and some Taco bell. And popcorn. Nothing I have eaten in the last 24 hours is healthy. Ugh. Sorry. I hope it doesn't show up on the scale tomorrow.

But to my credit, I did take my dog an a 2hr walk and then I went rollerblading for an hour.

I think your diet is fine and congrats on sticking to the challenge. You deserve the

    bad twist!

but really it's ok. I think if you beat yourself up about it, it's even worse.

I've messed up a little too. I worked a double yesterday, and didn't eat to much at work, b/c I was making money, so I was starving when I got home. I rewarded my self with ramen noodles. I love that stuff. it's like, made of crack though, the way I crave it.

and i only did 20 minutes workout thurs, but i did go to work. friday I did nothing, but worked the double.

I really need to figure out how to workout and still want to go to work. I think I'll try a lighter workout next time..... or to at least do 15-25 minutes on work days.

Maybe lighten up your weights on days you go to work, especially your legs . Or just do cardio on those days.

    Hey Lola Rose !

Today is our official start day ! No more cheating for me. I posted my stats on the other thread and needless to say, my weigh in was scary at best. It's all good though.
I'm ready to go with this . In fact, I'm off to do weights now

So today so far I've done 1 hour of weights and 45 minutes of Firm cardio.

    I ate :

    1 protien bar

    hummus and vegetables

    4oz salmon
    3 egg whites
    1 arugala salad w balsamic
    1 mini watermelon

    2 more hard boiled eggs
    a piece of chocolate

think I'm eating too much ?

no, b/c it's all pretty good for you. I think you're doing great! and damn, that's a long workout! great job!

my stats now are 35-27-35, and my weight is 111.5. I'm down an inch and a half in my waist, and 1.5 lbs as well! (um. i dunno why i wrote 34'' for my bust/hip measurement b4....... I've been a 35 for quite some time.....)

    hurry and catch up!!!

yesterday I wasn't too good, but I wasn't too bad either. (oct, 1)

I had 2 scrambled eggs, weight control oatmeal, a nutrigrain bar, a rice cake, 6 dried apricots, beef, mushroom and veggie stifry w/ a little bit of rice and two pieces of bread.

I really didn't mean to eat the bread

but oh well. I did 15 minutes cardio workout, and I worked.

oh, and I'm changing my workout goals. 15-20 minutes if I work, none if I work a double, and the full 40 minutes on my days off.

here's to a day of meeting all my goals! We went grocery shopping yesterday, and I got a lot of healthy things, so it should be easier to get all my fruits and veggies in.

The important thing is just to try to eat better so don't beat yourself up about the bread .

I feel like a slacker today because I only did an hour of rollerblading today.

What did I eat today ?

    2 eggs
A bunch of vegetables and some olives
    5oz salmon
    fruit bar
some crunchy peanut putter snack mix
an itsy bitsy peice of cheesecake
    a handful of doritos
    glass of wine

Have another 2hr workout day tomorrow. I hope I'm not overtraining. I feel like I have to make up for all the stuff I eat somehow and starving is not an option. You seem to make really good choices with your diet. How do you avoid temptation?

Thanks. Well. I avoid temptation by keeping things I don't want to eat out of my house, or at least out of site.

I also make myself eat something healthy before I eat an unhealthy snack. often, I'm not hungry for the junk anymore....

cooking your own food helps too, b/c itgives you time to think and plan good meals.

yesterday I took a 20 minute walk, but didn't do any other workout. i drank 4 glasses of water.

    I ate:
    peanut butter and banana= 7 g. protien, 2 fruits
    chicken wrap= 20 g. protein, 1 veggie
mac and cheese (lean cuisine)= 19 g. protien
    chicken w/ onions, corn and butternut squash= 2 veggies, 25 g. protein.

so i missed a glass of water, a workout, and a piece of fruit.

    pretty close though

i am amazed at how much you work out! wow! I wish i was so ambitious.

Thanks ! I have to work out a lot. I'm broke . I have to get back on the pole, you know ?

I LOVE the buddy system. Every time I want to be really bad, I think, "How am I going to explain this to Lola Rose ?" It adds accountability.

    Today I ate

    4 eggs
    2 chicken soft tacos (mmmmmm)
    miso soup
    edamame
fried shrimp ( I was SOO hungry)
    protein bar

    but I also drank
    1 glass of wine
    1 beer
    1 small sake
    1 vodka water

    and for exercise

    Firm 30 min upper body
    Firm 30 min abs
20 min intervals on the treadmill

I was going to take tomorrow off working out, but I have to rollerblade to get my car ! No drinking and driving for me

You are eating really well And even if you didn't work out really hard, you are working, right ? So that's a lot of exercise there. Keep up the good work skinny minnie !!!!

    little tipsy

    awesome!

    I was bad

I was at work, then I ate something I'm allergic to. I got really sick, threw up, went home and ate ramen noodles and a little candy

    I ate:

scrambled eggs w/ steak and bell peppers and onions
    peanutbetter and banana
    1/2 rice cake and banana
lite canned peaches- drained (aka no syrup)
    granola bar
    ramen noodles
6 piecs of fruity tootsie roll things and 5 gummie lifesavers

oh well. i was sick, so i guess I'm allowed to indulge.

No exercise today . I'm pooped.

    but I did eat ok

    2eggs
    carrots
    a pear
a tofurkey wrap with hummus and tomato
    handful of almonds
    2 soy dogs
    broccoli and cauliflower
    watermelon

the great thing about fruit and veggies is that you can literally eat all day and it's not going to make you fat !

I hear ya! I ate a ton yesterday, but it hardly counts b/c it was mostly good stuff!

I didn't work out either, but I'm working a double today, so that exercise should make up for it

    yesterday I ate:

2 packets weight control oatmeal w/ milk and a bit of jam

    peanut butter and banana

    1/2 a string cheese

HUGE salad: 6 types of lettuse, tomato, sweet peppers, corn, avacado, egg, chicken breast, carrot and lowfat dressing

    kiwi, 1/2 a banana

    90calorie rice pudding snack.

(I really wanted some candy yesterday, but the thought of posting it made me not want it )

Have a great and productive day
