can you get a dangley barbell as your initial jewelry? I've always wanted one and when I get mine done I don't want to have to wait fucking 6 mos. I'm gonna have to wait, aren't I?

let me know what you knowwwwww

    sorry about the f-bomb. again.

Please let me know if I'm being stupid, but do you mean dangley like this:

    OR like this:

    ?

When I got mine done almost 4 years ago, the lady who pierced me said that I had to get the first kind because the little flap of skin the holds your bellyring in has to heal and get strong enough to hold a ring like example #2 because they tend to be too heavy to start out with and can pull the hole, making it droop.

Sorry, you have to wait on dangly jewelry. The most you can get is like SS's first link, but they have curved barbells with rhinestones in them. That's what I got and it was very pretty.

Once you get your belly pierced you'll be glad they didn't let you get a dangle one first. Belly rings tend to take a long time to heal and are prone to infection. You'll want something that won't yank while you're getting used to having jewelry down there.

FYI, My belly ring took over a year to heal.

Concurred. I wanted dangly too but was told that the extra weight wouldn't allow the hole to heal properly and be able to support the jewelry, initially at least. I think it was a couple months before i could go dangle. Maybe someone can chime in as to the exact time frame? I don't remember off the top of my head.

nope, no dangly rings for a long time! Even with just the regular barbell, my piercing took over 6 months to heal up, and even now, 3.5 years later, I can't wear dangly rings to work or they will get pulled on and my piercing will become irritated for a couple days.

s.s.: not a "stupid" question. I mean the second one.

everybody else: THANK YOU! I guess I was dreaming, but I'm still gonna get pierced. I want something nice, though, like gold with cz stones as my first one. Do you know of any places online that make stuff like that?

Do you guys have pics of your piercings? I just want to see what various jewelry looks like when worn (the ones on websites all look irritated or photoshopped)

You can find gold rings on ebay, I've seen a bunch there, or the piercer should be able to order it in for you if he/she doesn't already have it. I'll take a pic of my piercing in awhile, I got it done about a month ago.
