    Default NO NO Boooooo

They cast the remake of Barbarella....I was hoping for Carmen Electra or Pam Anderson..it HAS to be a goofy ditzy chick....but no. Rose I'm-screwing-the-director McGowan was cast as the lead.

    I like Rose...but she is NOT Barbarella.....Boo

Rose McGowan? Eesh... that already ruins it for me.

If they keep the original plot I agree with you on the choices, but if they want to put a somewhat serious spin on it I'd love to see Kate Beckinsale in that role... or Keira Knightley... but she's missing the cleavage.

If they put a serious spin on it they'll ruin it. The sillyness of it is what MADE the movie so great! They attacked her with PARAKEETS for craps sake!!! PARAKEETS!!LOLOLOL

Hm. Actually I can see Rose McGowan totally working that role.

Are there no new ideas? Every movie and show that come out seem like a remake of something that has already been done.

Rose is a better choice than Pamela Anderson for sure. Carmen would have been ok. I would have preferred Jenny McCarthy

I just see Rose trying to make it serious. Barbarella is a blonde slutty ditz. Thats the fun of it. Thats kind of what Pam was spoofing in Barbed Wire, which is why I thought of her

And Andy....I was just having that conversation not long ago. We could not think of one movie in the last 10 yrs (except maybe M Knight Shamalama-ding-dong) that wasnt a remake or based on a book or comic.

I was thinking Jenny McCarthy too. Hey, maybe you'll be surprised and happy with Rose Mcgowan?? I don't really picture her either, but she'll probably do a good job.

Again..I like Rose. Its just that she pretty much plays every role exactly the same....same flirty eye roll, same twist of her hand...so I see her playing this as Rose McGowan ina Barbarella costume. Not Barbarella.....

Don't you hate when they pick the WORST actresses for remakes?

They're remaking my favourite Chinese film in America and they cast JESSICA ALBA as a blind Chinese woman... wtf?! And of course I see a scene where she stuffs up her acting and WAVES AT SOMEONE. Oh yes... great... way to ruin the best movie, ever.

I hate hate hate when people have shitty casting.

Best actress for this remake would have to be NO ONE DAMMIT.

Why cant they leave perfectly good movies alone?

That sux. I'd heard - forgot her name but she's been in rehab like all summer. GREAT clothes ... red hair .... you know who I'm talking about. I heard that SHE was up for it and I thought she would've been perfect.

Pam Anderson can't act and she looks too old.

Jenny McCarthy would be good. Jamie Pressly would be good.

I agree about the recycling. Very few new ideas. Every time they roll out another TV show from 10 to 40 years ago to be remade as a movie, I roll my eyes and can't bear to watch. Not to mention movies remaking movies.

Barbarella was nicely self-contained silly frivolity. Making it is almost like trying a remake of "Plan 9 from Outer Space." There's no reason to do it, aside from creative bankruptcy.

I like Rose McGowan, but I agree that she does come off as pretty serious. Carmen's awesome, I'd probably go see that if she got the part.

Threadjack: How many old TV shows/movies have we watched and actually enjoyed? (But since the title is No, No, Booooooo, maybe it's still OK.)

(I couldn't stand to watch Flintstones, Beverly Hillbillies, Duke of Hazzard, the remake of Psycho, and so on.)

One bright, shining example: "The Fugitive," Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. The movie was great, just great.

I'll invite the neighbors and supply the popcorn. I'm unfamiliar with that one, although the title has a nice touch of subtlety to it.

As in originals compared to remakes or just classic stuff in general?

    I am a HUGE classic tv/movie fan. 1930's - 1970's... and some of the early '80s stuff.

99.9999999% of remakes have made me physically ill and angry.

It was a bad night, and I was unclear. I mean how many remakes of shows/movies have we actually enjoyed? To me, "The Fugitive" being the clear example of a good one. The only other one that comes to mind right away was the first "Mission: Impossible," movie, but they ruined it at the end.

    Plenty.

I can only think of the Addam's Family, myself.

    As for movie remakes, plenty...

    Cape Fear
    King Kong 2005
I kinda dug the Hills have Eyes (but then the original was terrible)
Dawn of the Dead remake was pretty cool, too.

The Dawn of the Dead remake simply rocked.

I think Madcap and Jay listed all of the actual good remakes.
