Sad ugh, woke up sooo sick

My chest has been feeling a little sore the past few days. I thought maybe smoking was getting to me.

I woke up today with the worst chest pain ever. My chest feels soo tight and hurts so bad, and I'm coughing up nasty greenness and my throat hurts and my nose is runny.

    Looks like I got bronchitis.

    it huuurts.

I think I'm gonna take some nyquill and go back to bed.

haven't taken any meds yet......what...is there anything I can take to clear my head and help e concentrate enouh to get my homework done?

I feel like I'm floating in the clouds right now. Which will be kinda nice after I take some nyquill and lay down.....but I gotta get this work done first.....anything can help me?

    Try some sudafed...

And eventually try cutting down on the smoking..use nicotine gum. And try another thing, like getting into a habit of coffee or tea instead (like iced...)...and gum chewing off-the-job. At least these things won't give the bad skin that ciggies will.

Also, try steaming a big bowl of water, put a towel over your head, and inhale...that should help clear up some things, make it all moist (and a more healing environment) up there.

I think there are some tabs for bronchitis..might be called "bronkaid"
Go to www.webmd.com to search for info on how to remedy yourself...i'm not familiar what to do with bronchitis...
    Hope you feel better soon!

Oh, and take 1 gram of L-lysine (found in the vitamins drugstore section) to help keep yoru immune system up, also take vitamin c and zinc and a multivitamin to boost it.

Sudafed makes me wonky, even the non-drowsy. YMMV.

For daytime I take Hyland's homeopathic cold meds. Whichever one applys to your symptoms. Doesn't give you medicine head. I'm sure there's a chest cold one.

Steaming does help as well. With eucalyptus oil, or at least Vicks. Emergency-C IS amazing, as is olive leaf extract (the liquid is best, though awful tasting).

Sleeping for a little might help as well, just letting yourself heal. Unless they are due tomorrow. I had to take an exam once with flu and a fever and no sleep. I was like Wooo-german! Needless to say I barely passed that one.

    Fell better hon!

Ugh, this is turning into my whiney I'm sick thread. Whatever.

I called the doctor as soon as they opened and asked for an appt. She said they don't have an opening until Friday.

I said, don't you have same day sick appointments?
She said usually they do, but they are booked solid.

i said ok, can the nurse call in some cough syrup with codine and an inhaler?

Nope, you gotta be seen first. Ok...can I get an appointment?
    Not until friday.

SO basicially, fucking suffer and die. I feel like my lugs are going to implode at any second, my chest feels so tight.
Quick care is soo expensive, and I don't have I'm running near empty on cash.

I always take cold and flu tablets and preferably ones with pseudoephidrine (sp?) in them to perk me up when I have to either work or do essays whilst not feeling well.

If you go to a pharmacy just make sure you get the one that matches your symptoms - you probably have a chesty cough.

They should be able to help with the concentration.

Blah, I don't know what to tell you. I'm sick too, but fortunately my job requires so little effort that I can still go in, and I am thankfully done with school... but I'd cry if I had to do homework feeling like this. I am completely unable to think, let alone concentrate in another language, when I'm sick.

I guess I'd take a hot bath, a few Sudafed (the original pseudoephedrine, like Jazaine said, not the new-formula kind, those are kind of drowsyfying), an Advil or Tylenol for the headache, some guafenesin (Mucinex) to help with the chest, some tea, and then I'd just plow through. I'm a total baby when I'm sick and I rely entirely upon pharmeceticals to function.
Drought was over. Where was I? Drinks were on the house.
For mixers, my love, you'd poured--what?--even the rain.

Ok. Went to the doc. to get something to make my chest better.

I got 20 mg. of prednisone

    500 mg Amoxicillin

    Mucinex

And Chantix!! ( stop smoking drug)

    I should feel better soon.

    here's something odd tho....
he looked up my nose and said, WOW! You have a severe sinus infection. You have huge nasal polyps.

I said, uhh...I've had sinus infections befure. My sinuses feel fine. I have no symptoms of a sinus infection. It's my chest that hurts. I have bronchitis.

He said, sometimes a sinus infection presents as a chest cold......uhh....a sinus infection in my nose that makes my chest hurt? Never heard of that before. I've had chest colds that moved into a sinus infection, or a sinus infection that moved into my chest.......but seriously, if I had such a bad infection to cause huge polyps, you'd think it's hurt. But it feels perfectly fine.

    I found that odd....

    the saga continues.

I have this nasty pus pimple thing on the very back of my throat, behind my tonsils. I have no clue what the fuck it is, and grossly enough, I wish I coudl stick a q tip back there and pop the fucker.

The doctor was right...it's a sinus infection. Just took a day to set in my sinuses I guess. Cause my chest don't hurt anymore.

Other than the nasty pus thingy...parts of my body keep going numb. My wrists mostly, but my back was numb, my thighs.... It just comes and goes, numbness in certain body parts. Probably unrelaetd, I don't know. I feel like death.

Is the pus thing literally on the back of your throat or is it to the side and behind a tonsil, bulging from the tonsillar area? Amoxicillin should take care of anything throat related, but if it is bulging from the tonsillar area and about the same size or bigger than the tonsil, it could be a peritonsillar abscess that needs to be drained. Are you having trouble swallowing or speaking? Can you post pics?

Ughhh being sick sucks. You didn't mention any sore throat pain, but I know that for me at least sinus infections = post nasal drip = horrible sore throat. The only thing to help my sore throat sometimes is gargling cayenne pepper mixed in water. If you do a google search on it I'm sure you'll find something. I have no clue about the pimple thingy or going numb.

It's impossible to get a pic back there. The pus thing is behind my tonsils, on my throat, in the back. On the right side of my throat. I can swallow and speak, it doesn't really hurt...kind of irritating feeling....

Found a pic of what it looks like slightly bigger than this pic...really, just like a pimple, in my throat. Pretty gross.

Nyquil will make you feel even more droggy, it won't help your concentration at all. I just started taking Adderall and understand it's excellent for concentraion and focusing. Maybe upping your caffeine intake for a bit will help

I can honestly say I have no idea. Keep a close eye on it. If it gets larger or you start having a lot of throat pain, get back to the doc. I don't want you developing a peritonsillar abscess or worse...a retropharyngeal abscess.
