So inspired by the October workout challenge, I went to my local health food store and picked up some healthy foods. I got-
-a vegatarian bento box made with brown rice and organic veggies
-dried goji berries They're very high in antioxidants and they're a common ingredient in Chinese medicine. The ones I bought are organic and from Tibet. ($5 for 4oz) I could have gotten them cheaper at an Asian grocery but alot of the food products from China have been exposed to high levels of pollution so I decided to spring for the Tibet version.
-Cabbage kimkee- for a low calorie snack
-Hazelnut milk from Pacific Natural foods- tastes really good but I later read the label and sugar is one of the top ingredients.
-Green Tea Decaf Kombucha tea bags. I've heard about Kombucha and wanted to try this but I'm not sure if this has all the benefits of the regular Kombucha since it says to drink right after steeping.
-Woman's Dong Quai Tonic- in Chinese medicine women drink it around their period to help with cramps and PMS.
-green tea powder
-organic cherry tomatoes
-flaxseeds- I put them in my protein shakes or oatmeal. Flaxseeds are a good source of omega fatty acids and fiber. I bought them in a clear bulk container that was packaged at the store and they were alot cheaper than at Walmart where I've been buying them pre-packaged. By the way I buy my protein powder at Walmart. It's about 1/2 the price of very similar protein powders sold at health food stores.
I'm thinking about going back and buying royal jelly supplements. I've heard they're healthy.
I think that's about everything. So far I like the things I've bought. I planning to go back and try other foods. So what health food store foods do you ladies like?
