Who do you think you're going to vote for for the coming election?
Not sure yet but it sure as hell won't be a democrate I am a very proud republican I have alot of reasons for it. I fear for the country if a democrate is voted into office at this time.

I am going for Hilary for sure. Get Bush out and get our country the way it's supposed to be and end this war in Iraq.

Barack Obama seems to be interesting to me at this point.
Guy #1: I'd totally hit that.
Guy #2: Dude, I'd hit that so hard whoever could pull me out would become the King of England.

Democrat, Republican, same difference. They vote together more often than not. The only difference is the rhetoric and who they give your money to after they take it from you. I just can't see a noticeable difference between the two.
I think a lot of people are figuring it out, too. I expect third parties to do well this year. It's time for a new party to fill the void and represent its constituency for once.

I don't think that's going to happen before we get our first female, black or non-Christian President.
Right now I'm pushing for Hillary. I don't know enough about Obama at the moment. I don't know why but I'm loving the fact that the Clintons might return to the White House in swapped roles. Bill has become quite the philanthropist (and philanderer) which is perfect as "First ____." She seems to fit the presidential role pretty well too.
Vote for Hillary Clinton, Barak Obama, Fred Thompson, Mitt Romney, whomever you want. I guarantee you that absolutely nothing significant will change. Either way you wind up with a career politician whose primary interest is self-enrichment and obedience to his/her corporate supporters. We are still going to have a big mess in Iraq, we are still going to pay a small fortune for healthcare, we are still going to watch our taxes go higher and higher, and we are still going to get a big load of meaningless rhetoric instead of action. Same shit, different day.
Oh, and who's the non-Christian running? Do you think Lieberman will jump in again?
I'll vote for the NOT-republican. But I dont have any clear favorites. I like the idea of Clintons back in the white house too....
but dammit I'll just be happy if we get the lying, thieving, collaborating, murdering current administration out.
^^^ And replace it with another lying, thieving, collaborating, murderous one!
Okay, okay, I'll hush now.
Well....we didnt go to war when Bill was in office, the national debt was paid for the first time ever and we had allies all over the world. Our economy rocked and the only thing he got brought to task for was a BJ, which...I dont care about.
As opposed to now..where we have an administration that is spending billions and billions on a war that we have no right being in..that they lied to the US about..that caused their friends to profit like mad....our ecomony has been in a recession almost since his inauguration..
I'd go on but whats the point?
I dont see a godsend in anyone else...but damn...my fucking CAT would run this country better then the current admin. So I'll be voting for whoever runs against it.
I'm with Yek on this one...It doesn't matter.
I'm voting for whom I think has the absolute least possible chance of winning. Probably Kucinich or Paul. I have to make a decision on which party I want to vote on and change my registration to reflect that party. Probably Republican so I can vote for Paul. I'm currently registered as an Independent so unless I pick a party affiliation I won't get to vote in the Presidential Primary.
I'm likely to vote republican as Oregon is mostly a democratic state. I know whomever the nominee is for the democratic side, I'll vote for him/her in the general election. That is just my pattern over the last 20 years.
There won't be any real change until the next Great Depression. It is right around the corner, folks, so change isn't too far off. Too bad it takes people dying to get any real change to take place.

I saw it coming, lol, this is going to turn into a political argument. Happens everytime when politics are brought up with people having different beliefs.

I agree with you, I don't care how many people hated Clinton, I know the economy was way better then it is now, no wars, jobs were better and gas wasn't fuckin $3.00 a gallon!! Yes, I think Clinton was a great president and had our country straight, so yes I am going for Hilary, also I think it would be cool for us to have a woman president, especially one who was a first lady.

I am not a Bush fan, but those talking up the Clinton administration...
1) They never really balanced the budget. They said they did, but it was really smoke and mirrors. That is both the rebuplicans and democrats fault.
2) The information technology boom is what spurred the economic growth and it had nothing to do with the economic policies of the rebublicans or democrats. Although, all politicians like to take credit for things that go well.
3) Soaring gas prices is not a policy problem as much as a development issue. The development of nations such as China is pushing demand way up. Demand goes up and supply remains stable...then prices will go up. This will not change much regardless of who wins. Although, both sides will blame the other.
I am not arguing for republicans or democrats. I agree with Yek. There really isn't much difference. It is a shame really. The U.S. is suppose to be the leader of democracy in the world, but of all the democratic nations...we are probably the least democratic.
I do feel there are some clear differnces between the parties but I am not tottaly diagreeing with yek at all. Im holding back from getting to deeply into why I am very proudly repbulican becuse I don't belive this is the board for it I love all of you and don't want to piss anyone off so bad i don't feel welcome. lol My reasons for my party choice are not all about the war although i am a supporter and I feel that pulling out would have major draw backs. Thats all im going to say i swear I can't get into politics here i get very heated.

krchab99, it's understandable how you feel. It's called "false consciousness" and it works to make you feel solidarity with the Republican party regardless of what their actual behavior is.
I hope that all of you realize that the last two elections were stolen by the Republican party, not lost by the Democratic party. First by the Supreme Court, next by Diebold.
So my request is, just please vote, for god's sake. Make it so they can't steal another one, so it's nowhere near close. Hammer at your friends and family, your coworkers, to vote. Please.
Regardless of what Yekhefah and Paris are telling you, this would be a different country right now if Al Gore hadn't had the election stoled from him in 2000. Women's reproductive rights wouldn't be in such jeopardy, the Patriot Act likely would not exist, and we wouldn't be embroiled in Iraq. It's Nader-esque thinking like that which allowed the theft of the 2000 election in the first place.
I do agree that both parties blow. It saddens me that the leader of the free world comes down to 2 people...neither of which are adequately qualified for the job(that goes for pretty much every election since the beginning of democracy).
Although I do believe that Clinton had the charisma and people skills to build allies for the US.
I have to say, I'm completely with Susan on this one.
Just vote, damn it.
And yes...We'd be living in a different world had Al Gore won the presidency. And of course that world would have problems of its own. That doesn't stop me from wishing, daily, that Gore had been rightfully put in office.
We are a country that is completely divided right now. I think we'd have been better off with a democratic executive branch and a republican congress, the way it should have initially been. Instead, no such balance was struck and we are now facing the consequences.

I just wish the bloody gov't in this damn country would call one already! WE ALL KNOW IT IS DUE... bloody call it for fucks sake!
I need to know if it is going to screw up with my calendar of events or notas it is best to go when the polls JUST opened up instead of waiting around lunch time or some such.
okay.. end of thread jack...

At the moment I'm leaning towards Hilary. But, really I'm still pretty uneducated at this point.
