Default do you start your shift with the same songs?

i did a search and didn't find anything... sooooo

i know i always start with the same songs, which i didn't even pick... i used to start to the red hot chili peppers, but my dj started playing me these two songs by three days grace, which i'd never heard before i started working at this club... i start with "get out alive" and after that it goes to "let it die"

which are really pretty depressing songs... but i dunno. i kind of NEED to hear them now! i started dancing to them, and now they're so familiar... eventually i'll probably have to change them, and it will be very sad to me

our dj always gives us certain songs to start dancing to... so i was wondering:

do you start your day with the same song(s)???

I usually dance to laidback music in the beginning of my shift since things are more slow (I work nights). I'll usually dance to reggae to introduce myself to the crowd (I have an island girl theme). Never to the same exact songs, though. Later on, I'll pump it up with some rock and techno...and then towards the very end of the night, I'll bring on the 'freaky-deaky' shit.....MMMM-HHHMMMM!

I always play the crazier tunes right at the beginning of the shift, before the club is full...I try to let the DJ pick the rest of the songs, since I feel a bit of guilt about playing something not lapdance-friendly.

I always seem to dance to rob zombie 1st, or the "its all about the benjamins" rock remix.

I do my earlier shows with laid back music like Finger Eleven or Three Days Grace... really laid back easy stuff then as the night goes I start to pump it up.

I like to start my shift with "Callin' Out" by Lyrics Born. Something about it just gets me into the stripping mindset when I'm not there yet, and it picks my mood up.

I used a different set for every show or I'd get bored. I wanted to destroy the girls who dance to the same three songs every time they go on stage...night after night after night after night......I seriously have to suppress my kill instinct.

LMAO Kitty I used the same 3 jam sets for over a year.

I *JUST* got new jam music because Chris at the Bal said he was sick of hearing me dancing to the same shit

I KNOW you do! I truly and honestly don't know how you can do that and not get crazy bored with your show. I made a new jam CD every week, man!

Seriously? If I had six jam shows in a day I used six different sets because I'd get too bored if I didn't switch it up. I absolutely wanted to MURDER the girls in Toronto who used the same fucking set four times a shift, especially if it was a bad set. I didn't want to hear Paris Hilton four times a night. I didn't even want to hear it once.

At least you're doing it at different bars though, not playing the same shit a hundred times in the same club on the same night....and playing bad shit at that. I still can't get over that fucking Paris Hilton....BLAH!

I get whatever the dj gives me, so I kinda know what's coming, but it varies.

There was a song Mr. c played for me when I worked at his club at the beg of the shift, I remember it was from the batman forever soundtrack. I freakin loved that song. Now I can't remember what it's called but wouldn't matter, my current djs wouldn't have it.

usually the dj just goes by whatever i've told him i like, or certain songs i like to hear. in the beginning of the night i just let him play those; but towards the middle/end of the night there are certain songs i want to hear because they get me pumped, or there's a bigger crowd, etc.

i like to dance to different songs. if i dance to any one song too often i start to anticipate the music too much and messes up my dancing.

and, like madmaxine, i tend to choose the most unusual songs at the beginning of my shift when it's less busy.

Not usually. I request more mellow songs if it isn't busy, but not usually the same ones.

That's cool you got to work with him, sounds like your current DJ is lacking a bit by comparison, lol...

I confess to pulling two shameless tricks at the beginning of the night, if it's slow in the club. Playing the slower, less popular songs the dancer really likes. Playing her favorite popular song that's being overplayed to death already, if she's into that stuff.

If her favorite song is one that is a real crowd pleaser (or I think it should be), I'll definitely save it for later.

Before Vegas...I was always the first girl on stage every single night.
And that first song every single night was Davd Banner - Like a Pimp. I liked the song...but it wasn't somethign that fit me to dance to. Espicially that horrible ending.
Finally, I asked the dj why in gods name I had to dance to that aweful song every single night. he didn't even cut off the ending which contains a full 30 seconds of the word "nigga"
    "Lil' Flip Nigga
    Nigga Nigga
    Yea nigga
This is for the real money making nigga'z out there you know
    Get yo mother fucking money
Don't worry bout the next nigga
    Get yo mother fucking money
Get yo mother fucking money nigga
    Uh get your money money
    Money money

I cringed every day trying to dance to the last 30 seconds of that song.

So he changed my song to Shaggy - Angel. Much better. I liked dancing the the same somg every day. It would come on and signify time to start work. I'd become a stripper stepping on the stage to that song.

Indeed! They don't have any trance at my current club. What strip club doesn't have trance? I don't get it..but they have like every country song in the world.

I used to be very involved, like working together with my dj's to find out what songs I wanted to play, like Mr. C, and at D's and Club Risque, but this club it's just a big pain...so whatever they want to play they just play. Can't wait to come back to Philly!

Goddamn, I wish I could have more dancers like you two at my club! I like the women I work with, but most of them don't speak English, maybe 1-2% ever come and discuss their music with me with a creative attitude, and none of them ever want to be first. It's a big ordeal every night, whoever is among the first 3-4 dancers always bitches about it.

what? ew! is this at the gold club? When I was there they had that dumbass booth that you could only get to by ladder, so dancers wouldn't go up there ever. stupid stupid stupid.

back on topic...I like to start the night with something/anything by Rammstein.

It wouldn't happen to be "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" by U2 would it? I love that song.

    Oh, nm, MrC answered that.
