"What our Latina mothers have taught us"

Someone emailed me this, thought i'd share....

The great things Latina mothers taught us:

My mother taught me RELIGION -
"Ay Bendito, pidele a Dios que yo no te agarre."

My Mother taught me about ANTICIPATION -
"Deja que lleguemos a casa, coņo!"

My Mother taught me about my ROOTS -
"Malagradecida, cuando yo era chiquita no tenia na'!"

My mother taught me LOGIC -
"Como que porque, coņo? Porque SI!"

My mother taught me about INSPIRATION-
"Si llegas con mal! a nota. ... te voy a hacer comer la chancleta"

My Mother taught me about WISDOM -
"Tu crees que sabes todo, pedazo de mierda!"

My Mother taught me about CONFUSION -
"Me cago en la madre que te pario!" ( isn't that her?)

These are my favorites, esp. the last one!! After she would say it, you'd always be like

Classic. I'm printing it out and puttin' it on her fridge.

Haha! My cousins and I got beat with the chancleta (by one of our aunts) so much, it was in a U shape!! Soft as hell after a while, too. We would just fake cry until it was over, then go in the other room and laugh.

^ That sounds right, even though I never heard it.

I think Latin Americans might be the only racial group with a joking hand gesture for "I should hit you" when addressing children. ; P

Yep!! And you know what's funny? They are very similar!! Probably because a lot of Latino culture (I mean Caribbean Latinos in particular: Puerto Rican, Dominican, Cuban) was influenced by African slaves. Funny how alot of that survived all that time.

    LMFAO!!!!!!!

V you're killing me! Giving me flashbacks! My grandma would give me a warning with the correa, she would fold it and pull both sides and make that snap! That was me sign to run. I ran so fast but she always caught up because my damn apt in the housing project was so small, I couldn't hide!!! LOL
