UGH! I just hate in society how dancers are put down like we're all trash, all on drugs, unworthy, stupid, you name it. I HATE THE STEREOTYPE!!!!! I'm especially not liking it through my current situation...
I ended my marriage in late March because I was simply no longer happy in my marriage. My ex was also getting pretty abusive, not physically, but verbally, etc. Well, we were living in the same house, separate rooms, until July. He tried taking my son after I confronted him with some issues so I tried to stop him. He had ALWAYS made the threat of "I'd never see my son again..."
Well, on that day I got arrested for DV/Assault simply because he got to the phone first and said I "attacked" him and honestly, that's how those things work. The police didn't thoroughly investigate the situation, proper procedure wasn't followed. It ended up I got kicked out of the house, a protection order slapped on me, and temporary custody of our son went to him.
His lawyer has been a complete a-hole! In court all he's brought up is how "I'm a stripper", and even has gone so far as to ask MY attorney "so, is she trading you lapdances for legal fees?" Though I haven't danced in 2 months and not worked anyplace, his attorney still says I dance, I make WAY more money than I actually do. He's even asked in court "if you're a stripper, why don't you make more money" etc. He pulls out all the stereotypes. I've gotten drug tests and of course they are NEGATIVE since I don't do drugs, I don't drink and if I do very little, I've never been arrested in a raid or for prostitution, I keep to myself in clubs. I'm NOTHING like the stereotypes, except you may add SINGLE MOM to it now.
It just pisses me off that lawyers are allowed to do things like my ex's lawyer is! That's my rant!!!!!!!
