There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.
Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.

Are you taking birth control?

yes i used to take it continually and never get my period for years. recently i stopped taking it for about 6 weeks and didnt get my period. now i am back on it and have taken it continually and got my period. im not surprised that i got my period since i had the break but its the length of time i am bleeding for.
it's going back and forth from the brownish colour and hardly any to lots of bleeding and being really red (sorry TMI).

This is so weird because I have an appointment to go to the gyn next thursday for the exact same thing. I take my pill continuously, but take the placebo pills every 4 months or so for a period. I've been spotting for 12 days now. I shouldn't be bleeding at all because it's not the right time in my cycle either. Weird. Especially because I NEVER spot and my period is like clockwork. Sorry I have no advice, but I definitely understand what you're going through.

i will go to the doctor if it has not stopped by monday.
my friend just suggested i might have miscarried? well i obviously am not aware of any pregnancy but she said her friend bled like thiss and it turned out she had a miscarriage.![]()

This happened to me when I was in treatment. I bled for 3 weeks! It sucked. My roomate also bled almost that long. They told me it was the shock of detoxing my body. I don't have anything to add, other than I feel for you, it really sucks!

Well I was sick in general, got a really nasty bronchial infection. They also said I had "post-acute withdrawal symptoms" but I am not quite sold on it.
However, a few years ago I had some ovarian problems and was bleeding a lot. Go to your local healthy grocer and look for some liquid iron as a supplement. It supposedly helps alleviate bruises too. My friend takes it daily and her legs look phenomanal, as they have no marks at all.

If you had a miscarriage you would know it, the pain would have you bent over in pain, worse than just period cramps.
Something very similar happened to me when I was on the shot, I didn't have a period at all the whole time, then I got off of it and bled for like 2 months, then I would have a period once every 3 months, or twice in a month, it was really off for like a year because of my body adjusting to being back normal, so that's probably all it is but to be safe you should still go to the doctor if you feel worried.
I've had this problem lately, I've been switching birth control pills, and it keeps fucking up my cycle. Last month I had a 3 week period :-/ It could be your body getting used to the hormones again, but call your OB to make sure.
I believe you Dottie and you have my support

Are you taking any cleansing/fiber supplements?
When I took bc for one month, I bled every single day. My guess was that it was all the fiber. I might be wrong though.
You need to get to a doctor. Now. Don't wait. Even if it will stop in afew days, bleeding for that long is horrible for your system. Yes, you probably are extremely anemic by now (do you look paler? Easily tired? Dizzy?) and will need supplements. Whiel it's probably because you took constant BC for so long, there can be other, more serious causes of bleeding for weeks. Get to a doctor.
When I bled for 3 weeks, I was in a medical facility. The doctors and nurses told me there wasn't much that could be done. Eventually it stopped. We bleed out a lot less than we think during menstruation.
Of course, go to a doctor for sure. But I had one available to me every day and he said I'd be ok.
