Default Tangled wires, cords, knots, etc.--DJs take note!

As a DJ you deal with a lot of these. I have always noticed that when you pack up any sort of equipment, computers, extension cords, speaker wires, etc., and then get to where you are going with them, they have invariably tangled themselves up and toed themselves in knots, literally, by the time you get there.

It almost defies science sometimes. It's as though an army of little trolls in a frenzy go at it in the 5 minutes it takes to walk home from work and take whatever it is out again.

Well apparently there is something to it:

I have personally seen the knot gremlins at work. They're ugly little bastards! related to the fax gremlins who eat random pages.

That's interesting and all, but someone actually got paid to drop strings into a box? CRAZINESS. Two of my cords were in an insane knot yesterday though.

Right, it does sound absurd, getting paid to toss around bits of string all day. Where do I apply?

Can I get paid if I take pictures of the open suitcase I cart my stuff around in when I get home?

But imagine the benefits, if these evil knot-tying trolls Scorpio speaks of could be stopped, somehow!? Maybe this research could be of great value to us all, and our poor, abused appliances.

I know I have broken things when I finally lost it, and savagely ripped that tangled cord loose and fucked up everything it was attached to. I know I can't be alone in this reaction, or in having borne the awful consequences.

We have the same problem with computer cables. No matter how carefully one is placing them in a box, upon removing them invariable some criss-cross under-over and you end up with a mess of knots.

I agree it sounds absurd, but strangely I've long thought it would be interesting if someone studied this. Probably no immediate application, but eventually it may be another key tool used by physicists to solve some kinds of problems.
