Default just curious about stage tipping policy (and a rant)

So I am curious about stage tipping policy in other clubs. the policy (I thought) was $1 per person per song if you sit at the rack. I do a good show and on a busy night my rack usually fills up by the end of the set. Last Night 3 well dressed men came in (Gucci Hat, expensive suits, Rolex and Omega watches, ect) and sat down at my rack. They had fresh beers, which means they were just at the bar and so should have plenty of ones. They each put up a dime, a nickel, and a penny for me, for each song. At the end of the first song, I told them the tipping policy. At the end of the set, I scooped up the change and dropped it into one of the guys laps and told all 3 of them
"This isn't enough. If you sit here its one dollar per person per song."
so then one guy hands me $1, tells me to show my pussy to them. So I tore it in half and told them not enough.
Well, they complained that I had thrown their money back at them and I got a talking to by the manager. I think I was well within my rights since I think they were trying to insult me, especially with the change, and especially coming from a group of guys so well dressed, and I'm kind of pissed that the management isn't backing me up.
I had a customer from atlanta tell me that in some states if you don't tip that they run you out of the club. What clubs out there run cheapskates out of the club?

change? in what way were you wrong? I am positive if you tried to tip bouncer/barternder/manager with change you would have been repirmanded so why should you the entertainer have to take it?
I have ALWAYS given back change (unless it was a full roll of quarters, ha ha) and have always been told I was correct to do so. Do they really want a trend like that to start?
The guys knew they were wrong and I always refer to rap videos when guys say they didn'nt know they had to tip, do they think we throw all the money on the stage ourselves?
Screw 'em, you did well grasshopper.

Even here in Australia... where our $2 and $1 coins are considered "change" .. every girl would be insulted. Unfortunately, it was a bad move by those guys as well as management. Next time, just leave the change there.. don't touch it.. anyway... you were completely in the right.

If they could afford such expensive attire, then why be so cheap? ARGH! This is why I detest and stay away from ANY guy in a suit unless it's obvious that the will be spending (because he already is spending).

I don't know Oregon..but I thougt $1 a song per guy was more customary than policy. I have kicked guys off for not tipping, or for tipping change before, but usually I'd just tell em to sit here you have to tip. Dollars. I do not acccept change. Where the fuck would I keep it??
Please go find a seat away from the stage.

That is an insult. They knew it was an insult. That's like putting a nickel under the plate to insult a bad waitress at a restaurant.

You were not wrong. When management yelled at you and told you that you were in the wrong, I would have said, OH..my bad! I didn't know I was wrong for getting angry over pennies. I'm sooo sorry. I'll graciously accept pennies from now on.
By the way...here's your tipout for tonight.

    Jackasses.

Well, first you sweetly explain to them the tipping policy: "Hi, guys! You're at the racks, so a dollar a song is the minimum tip." If they are assholes after this I feel that an accidental kicking of their drinks into their laps is perfectly acceptable. So is just ignoring them completely and then grabbing a manager -- I'm pretty shocked you got a talking to! Which Dolphin and manager was this?

I used to have one custie in Key West who would tip in quarters. BUT...he wasa cool guy and a reg and KNEW he was being a dick and thus thoroughly expected me to wing them at his head. So it was a game. (and yes, he tipped me actual money when I got down)

But someone doing it NOT joking around?? And your manager siding with THEM??? Yeah. That manager'd be getting nickel tips from me for the rest of time. Obviously he likes small change so there you go douchefuck...

Wow, what assholes. And that sucks to not be backed up by a manager. 16 cents?

They each put up a dime, a nickel, and a penny for me for each song.
Did they each put up the same weird amount of change? Were they trying to be funny or something?

Oh hell no. I would've thrown the coins at those fuckers while telling them off, and then tell off the manger as well for not backing me up. That would've been my last night dancing there. You had every right to feel the way you did.

I understand that MOST club managers are pretty fucking shitty, however that just goes over board. They should've gave those fuckin tight wads the boot, instead of telling you that you were in the wrong. So not cool. Sorry you had to go through that.

I'm in PDX and HELL NO I would NOT have put up with that!!! I agree with Susan...give them a one song chance. Let them know (politely) that it is a dollar per person per song. If they continued with the coins, I would have picked them up and dropped them in their drinks, said loudly "Mommy didn't give you enough allowance, huh boys?" and walked away. The fact that the manager bitched at you is WAY out of line, but typical of what I've been hearing about the Dolphin Clubs lately. Maybe it's time to switch clubs.
Well now I can rant: This happened not 10 minutes ago; (yah i'm at work right now!):
Couple are the only two people at the rack. Tipping a dollar per song (50 cents each). After the second song, they start making confused faces, like "why isn't she naked yet?".... so I politely ask if they go to strip clubs often. They say no. I said "I want to save you guys a lotta grief for your next visit. You probably didn't know this but most clubs in town have a dollar per person per song policy." (smiled) She says snottily: "Well we are just killing some time before we go to a museum exhibit." I reply: "Yeah, well...I'm just WORKING and I'd like to get PAID." Of course they left...good riddance!

Sometimes it's seems that think we are part of the exhibit, doesn't it? They pay their entrance fee and then they can wander around and gawk as much as they want for free.
Hmmm, maybe the "this isn't a museum" line might work on some people.

They sound like the type of cheap fucks that come to the club dressed in suit and tie, fake watch and all, just to look rich and get free attention from every dancer in the place that comes to sit in their lap. Fuck em.

They were trying to insult you and be mean. They're the kind of guys who want to simultaneously own and degrade strippers. They come into the club to abuse and belittle women because it's one of the few places they can get away with it. Fuck them. I've had very few things that insulting happen to me in 6 years of dancing.

I think Viola's got it. It's sad, but it is a type of customer, however fucked up that is. The manager should have recognized that.

Hell, with it being 2007 and all I'm starting to think a dollar a song isn't enough anymore.

whoah whoah whoah...... they actually put COINS on the rack?? wtf?? Greg didn't think that was ridiculous and he bitched you out for telling them that was inappropriate?? ugh. That's crazy. I would have chucked those coins at their faces and knocked over their drinks in their name brand laps.

Basically Greg called me into the office, I get there and he and Sarge are there, Greg asks me if I threw money back at a customer. I say "yes, and I told them that it's a doller per person per song to sit there."
So Greg gives me a 5 minute lecture (in a tone of voice normally used with small children) that Tipping is GRATUITY and is NOT required, that the guys are now going to leave, that maybe they just didn't like me, that maybe they like blonds instead and just didn't want to loose out on good seats, blah blah blah. THEN, at the end of the lecture he says that if people arn't tipping in the future I can't say anything to them, but I can tell a manager and they will watch and if they see that they arn't tipping for several girls, THEN they will go say something to them. (So first Greg says tipping isn't required and THEN he says if someone isn't tipping he'll go talk to them? WTF? That means to me that it is required.) So yeah, Greg is on my shit list right now because I felt I was just standing up to some insulting assholes, and I felt he's telling me to not stand up for myself. Normally I really like Greg and everything, and he's always been fair before, but THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I just kind of sat there waiting for the lecture to end so I could get back to the $$$ customers I did have out there, and just agreed to be nice to customers in the future. Even cheap ones.

They didn't yell at me, they just spoke to me like I was 5 years old. which is just as bad. I'm really upset about this because usually Greg backs me up and I feel totally stabbed in the back by this. I feel like it's managers and bouncers jobs to take care of us and here he is telling me to not stand up for myself.

Thats when you impliment the kick to the drink all over their lap and "oops oh my gosh! I just spilt your beer all over your fancy designer pants!! *bats lashes* gee I'm sorry". What fuckwads.
I actually had a guy REFUSE to tip me once and I got really pissed because he was holding onto his beer so I couldnt *accidently* kick it. I think he knew.
I agree with tipping the manager in change next time.

Oh and we don't technically have a tipping policy. Sometimes if guys sit at the tiprail for a while the bouncers will tell them they have to sit somewhere else if they don't tip....but thats about it. So we kind of have to take it into our own hands.

wow... I think I would have dropped their change in their beers... I mean it would have been cheaper for them to just tip the min than buy new beers. Those fuckheads. And yeah, fuck management.... when they're showing snatch for quarters then they can talk.

Where I worked there was no tipping policy, and a lot of times guy wouldn't tip, but it almost never happened when I was on stage and a guy was sitting at the rail. Except this one time this dancer actually climbed up onto the rail on all fours and the non-tipper that was sitting there gave her a $20. I was shocked that she'd done that, esp. after having just telling me what is and isn't appropriate in a SC. Funny.... I thought SW girls were better than that... But I guess good for her for getting her money, too bad Karma's a bitch.

Anyway I'd rather find a new club than work for management that requires me to do something that belittles me and my worth.
