Me and my SO are going to NYC on Tuesday!!! We are going to a concert at 7pm, and before that I want to go on top of the Empire State Building.
What are some other good suggestions of fun things to do in NYC? What was ur favorite place there?

I went last summer, and The Empire State Building was the first thing to come to mind, that was really fun. I also liked the Central Park zoo to see the polar bears Gus and Ida. Shopping (even if it's just window shopping) along Madison Ave was cool.
Shake Shack is an outdoor grill in Madison Square park that has the best cheeseburgers I've ever had. Seriously worth a visit.

E train, get off at Sutphin Blvd. Walk south down Sutphin.
Enjoy

Will it be your first time in nyc?
As far as shopping goes I'd head to the village, soho, and Nolita.
I think the Bodies exhibit is still going on at South Street Seaport. I loved it!

Well "Bodies" is suppose to be a really good museum right now. Dying to go there myself. Check it out... http://www.checkoutnymuseums.com/lis...ts&lid=3&cat=1 There are different options, if you don't want to go there.
And if you're into cabaret, burlesque, comedy and porn shows, I suggest you check out "The Box". http://www.theboxnyc.com/ http://www.theboxnyc.com/varieties.html Real hot place. There are other similar places, i'll post it in a few.
If you like comedy shows, go to the "Comedy Cellar". There are always broadway shows too.
One show that's on my list is the "Blue Men Group". Heard it was a fun show.
What kind of food and nightlife are you into?
Hey everyone!! THanks for your input....I'm really appreciating it!! A burlesque sounds pretty cool actually....I'm such a striploser.
I've been to NYC countless times, but it was usually for a specific purpose with a time limit (fucking sucks), like on a bus to a Broadway play or a school field trip.
I love Italian food!! But I don't like any nightlife really (I'm a loser). Can you go to the top of any really tall buildings at night when the city is all lit up? (confirming loserness)
I've actually heard really good things about the Blue Men.
So I've been googling it online.....what's on Sutphin Blvd?!??
everybody keeps telling me to go there........ but i hate big citys

yea, I've always wanted to check out "Bodies" down at South Street Seaport but haven't had the chance. It seems very educative, and if you're open to learn more about the body, thats not a bad place to suggest to visit. Its worth it. Or you can take a trip up to my area and check out the "Bronx Zoo" or "Botanical Garden."
p.s. I think there's a "Sex Museum" somewhere downtown too. Anyone ever heard or seen it? I saw it one time I was driving downtown with a friend of mine from out of town.

also recommend Blue Man Group. they're still in Astor. i first saw them when they first opened there back in '91 when i was still in school. although they've made minor changes in their act since then it's still an awesome/fun experience (seen them 5x now).
the village experience is great as well. restaurants, small cafes, soho, noho, shopping for open-air market, sidewalk bs, hideyhole clothing stores, galleries, etc. (i had a number of gf's into all that *yawn*)
chinatown's also not that far away but that's depending on your time schedule.
going to ground zero's another possibile destination. although i haven't been there since then.

I beg to differ. You are confirming you have an awareness of aesthetics, which definitely makes you a winner in my book.
And so you might want to check out the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is considered by some to be the best in the country. I could spend several days running in there, there's so much to see, and have been numerous times already.

Get Chinese dumplings at for lunch.
Have the fine dinner of your life at .
Walk as much of Central Park as you can.

The new must-see hot off-Broadway experience is:
FUERZABRUTA.NET
It's from the creators of De La Guarda. I'm going next weekend!!!!
If you want info ongetting a discount for $35, PM me.
After the show you can walk to Zen Palate or Pure Food & Wine. Both are vegan. The latter is raw/live cuisine. (I really only know about vegetarian and granola-esque eateries). You'll be in the Union Square area. There's some cool shopping over there too. Street vendors and artists selling their wares.

i really just meant the area and such.
for me, being used to the presence of the towers since i was little, the void throws off my bearings actually. i.e. missing landmark, "where's the moountain that used to be here?" so the place is just emotional in that sense.
nothing compared to your experience, of course. but for the OP at least it's something "to do".
are they finished with that irish memorial? the grass lot thing? just curious.
max mentioned ny pizza, ray's of course!that's a mandatory stop.
but another "delicacy" are the $0.60 hot rats of Gray's Papaya (14th and 6th ave)! god, i loved that 'food'.i remember getting up and out of the dorm at 3AM just to get a bite. it's like crack.
there's a beautiful little cafe off of washington square (La Lanterna) i used to go to on dates. very cozy and romantic. not sure if it's too commercialized now though but if you like the typical pasteries, coffee, and cozy spots, that was nice.

Chinatown !!!!!
and while you're in the neighborhood, check out Enchantments on east 9th st !

I know you said you don't like the nightlife, but I love going here with someone on a date. Flute lounge. Place is great for dessert(only) & champange. Very romantic, dark setting with jazz music playing. Love this place.

**EAT PIZZA!!!!!!***** Fuck all those fancy eateries; just gorge on genuine New York Pizza!
*American Museum of Natural History
*Wander around the West Village--Take the F train (runs along 6th Avenue/Avenue of the Americas) to West 4th street and just walk around looking at people and shops and stuff.
*If you're TRULY a geek, grab some binoculars and go birding in the Ramble in Central Park.(It's a major migrant trap at this time of year.)
*International Center of Photography (43rd st. and Avenue of the Americas)
*Is the skating rink at Rockefeller Center open for the season yet?
I grew up in NYC and I've never once been to the top of the Empire State Building. Weird, huh? It's in kind of a super-boring part of town.
I think there's an even better, but lesser-known platform for viewing the city from on high--I think it's somewhere in one of the buildings at Rockefeller Center; sorry I don't know the details, but someone else here can probably fill you in....
