Default should i pay his speeding fine?

On sat night I was working and when i got there i realised that i had left all my bikinis in the laundry basket at home. So I called my bf and asked if he would drop them off at my work. So he did but on the way there he got a $220 speeding fine.

He thinks it is my responsibility to pay the fine, the whole thing!!

    What do you guys think?

Obviously he would not have been driving if it weren't for me but I did not ask him to speed.

The thing is if he hadn't of said anything I would have offered to pay half of it coz I appreciated him driving down at midnight but the way he just said "well you better have a good night at work tonight coz you're paying it".

Hell no! Speeding is speeding....if he is a speeder than he could get stopped for it anywhere.

He made the choice, not you.

Were you bugging him on the phone asking him to get to your work super quick?
Even if so, it i still not your fault...but I am just curious? He still made the choice...

...well, i'd recommend since "its 100% your responsibility" that you tell him you decided it would be better not to pay and that jail time is better served.

hell no, lets ust take it one step further, if he was speeding and hit/killed someone, would he be asking you to take his place in jail?

You asked him to bring something by, it was his own decision to speed.

I thought this issue was settled in the dressing room the other night!

I agree with the others; the onus was on him to speed so you shouldn't have to pay for his mistake.

People should take responsibility for their choices. You didn't ask him to speed, you asked him to bring you something which he agreed to. The speeding part, which he knows is not okay, was his choice.

That said, it might be a nice gesture to help him out with it on the grounds that people make mistakes, and when you have someone you share a lot with, sometimes you'll end up sharing in the cost of fixing their mistakes.

i think it was 10km over not sure what the zone was tho. 100km in 60 is instant loosing of licence here. 30km over automatic

Jeez, $220 is a big ass ticket! And no, it's his responsibility. Plus he was a total prick in the way he handled it. "You better have a good night at work because you're paying it"? Oh hell no.

Hell no! I can't believe he would have the nerve to say that to you.

So he was delivering your outfits to you. You weren't in the car pushing your foot on the gas pedal-that was his decision. He needs to live with his own mistakes. I think it's sweet to want to pay half, but even that isn't necessary. He's an ass, and acting like it's your fault...not cool. I would think that's something a guy would say immediately after getting a ticket...but I would figure once he cooled down, he would realize he was being a jerk. But he's standing by it? Erm....jerk.

But a $220 ticket? Does he have a past record of speeding?

    fuck that!!!

if you pay for this, he'll start expecting you to pay for more and more things, for other bullshit reasons.

don't feed into his sense of entitlement.

i would agree on half but i would also agree that he should check the 'tude!

i think he's just more pissed than anything but 100%? that's not fair, he sped not you. i like g-real's example of greater consequences and responsibilities.

otoh, i only agree with the 50% because he was only doing you the favor. turning it around, if you did the favor for him (like bringing his lunch to work or something) would he expect you to pay the 100%.

but personally, yes, that's a high fine but he should suck it up and be a man imho. he did the crime, he should pay the fine.

I don't think he has been very nice - and what does that mean, that he "insists" on you paying it? It's nice to help people out and do favours when they've done you a favour - but this whole things seems off. If it were me, and it was a fairly serious relationship, I'd fight/reason with him endlessly until he gave in, and then just pay it. But that might not be for everyone.

Hell no! I think at most paying half would be extremely nice of you to do, but not necessary.

oh hell no. I'm like you--would have offered to pay half just to be nice, but if someone came at me with that attitude, forget it!
