    Default Credit Cards

i actaully don't have a credit-card so to speak, yes I have debit, but that doesn't count....

I had one when i was 18, young and stupid and got 200 bucks charged-off....yes $200..

so after that I learned to be somewhat financially responcible, and have gotten away with using my debit-card for years. But, I think I should get a CC just in case....

so,....anyone here have any preferences, suggestions? Not looking for perks, just low APR...

Don't get one if you don't need it. Just keep the debit card.

This should be in Dollar Den - do a search in there... there are tons of threads on this...

Actually... I love having a couple. I get dozens of offers and throw most of them out, but having one or two has advantages. First, I charge pretty much everything. Second, I pay it off immediately. For that I get a bunch of benefits:

1.) Lots of free travel miles.

2.) Extra insurance on what I buy. On a couple of occasions I've used it too.

3.) Itemized receipt of all my purchases.

4.) Credit. I don't need at the moment, but it's good to have for a true emergency (not to be confused with deferring payment for what you can't afford).

5.) It makes it much easier to book airline tickets, hotels, and when traveling internationally if you have a major CC.

Just make sure they aren't charging you every year to own the card. Pay it off ASAP (in which case who cares what the APR is as long as you can pay it off without incurring any interest). Visa or MC is accepted pretty much everywhere.

Thanks XD, I was thinking of an easy way to bring up my credit score, spend X amount on gas or something, and pay it off every month....something simple/small enough that it won't make a dent in the account.

I was also thinking of getting one for emegency situations....just there if I need it
