Default Rumors on What I Thought was a Strip Club Urban Legend...

For the past year or two, I've heard this rumor/urban legend that inside some strip clubs, they have these soundproof rooms that the customers could go in and call their wives and tell them that they're anywhere but at a strip club. They were even talking about it on the morning show that I listen to on the radio. I've always assumed that this was something fake that just was made up over the course of time.

Well, the radio asked if anyone could confirm this. A stripper from a well-known club here called in and said that her club had these old-fashioned phone booths near the door that the men could go inside and use. Inside the booth is a knob that you can turn to made it sound like there's some chatter in the background or you could turn the talking down until it's quiet. Another guy called in after to say that some of his co-workers had used said booth when they had a "business meeting" at this same strip club that the dancer said she worked at.

Is this true for other clubs in other states? Why have I never heard of this before? Where do they have these booths/soundproof rooms in your club if you have one? Thanks for answering because I was just wondering!

I've never heard of this in my life. Doesn't seem plausible or practical.

The former Men's Club in Vegas had one. It was pretty cool....you go into a phone booth, and there was a touch screen computer-type thing. You could pick from several background noises, like traffic, the hospital, or the airport....etc. The screen even ran a sample script of what to say (probaly good if you were drunk!) like "Hi honey, Bob from marketing cut his hand and I had to bring him to the ER......"

Good thing we don't have one-I'd be in there all the damn time, just messing around.

LMAO.. This is probably the most awesome thing I've heard all day. But why couldn't the guy just go outside and use his phone?

I wanted to use it so bad! I never got a chance to go see the club. Everyone said the "excuse booth" was so cool!

We have a phone booth, but i always thought that thing inside it was a fax machine, I am gonna check it out next time. No one is ever in there, so maybe it is just a fax/phone.

I guess because if you say you're someplace, the background noise would need to match to seem believable.

..yep, they did. They were built-in wooded pay-phone booths with glass doors. I dont think they still have them since nobody maintained it, it was always broke and they have remodeled the original area. It was a little knob on the wall that had a few choices of sounds. Cabaret Royal might have had it also back in the day.

...because back in the day when those clubs were built (very early 90's in Dallas), practically no one had a mobile phone.

We have one at the Men's Club in Reno. In fact they have updated it recently! It now has a touch screen and more background choices. I think it is kind of cool!

heh, this is a funny thread.
at signatures, (the club emily, nat fr philly, and i worked at together for years,) they had this little space btwn an outside door and the club's door that ppl went into often for calling purposes. but i usually get to the bathroom at work if i need to use the phone to make a business-related, non-strippery call. still, i love the script idea!

    Love it!

GENIUS! I wish the clubs I go to had one. I can get email on my phone, but occasionally you need to make a call, and stepping outside doesn't cut it most of the time (road noise, valets, wind noise). This sounds like an opportunity for an enterprising person (dancer? custie?). EVERY club should have one, IMHO.

I could certainly use one of those in my club since no one knows I strip! What a great idea.

I have an odd opione on this I think custys may be slightly turned of by this being offerd alot them feel akward enough going into the club to have that would make those custys feel even more like they are doing something dirty or remind them its not okay to be there and could either leave or rember that and not go back. Its an odd i opione i relize but it might be true for some custy's. But i would totatly play around in one if a club i was at had it lol

    ^^ I sort of agree....

But I think it wwas more of a novelty than actually used to lie to the wife.

I never saw anyone in there using it, aside from fucking around or playin with it caue it was cool. I would give customer's the tour of the club and of course show them the excuse booth...only people I ever saw in there were other dancers showing it to customers, or dancers playing around, or customers laughing and playing with it.

The Men's Club in Charlotte has them.
Was shown them years ago when I was hired. I was just there last night;and walked past them on the way to the can.
