Additional Information
This club is not actually in Hobbs, it is on the outskirts of Artesia, kind of in the middle of nowhere. It is only open Thursday through Saturday, and only for nightshifts. Google says they open at six, but I remember it being eight. Because of its location, I didn't expect much from it, and it surprised me. It was simple to get hired. I walked in without having called ahead, filled out an application, and was allowed to work that night. No audition was necessary, and they were okay with the fact that I was traveling. There were about five dancers working there on a Friday, and there is one stage where everyone does two song sets. The DJ asks for a list of songs and he plays those songs for you. He had some other ideas for me which he ran past me first, and they were fire. I appreciate that he asked first because some DJs will run wild with tangential songs, artists, or even genres just because they want to play their own personal favorites. And they have a spinning pole, if I remember correctly. That's always fun. I was there in late October, and the club was not too cold. The main floor where customers sit is pretty casual, with the kind of chairs you would find in a recreation hall or church basement (they stack but they don't fold). The dressing room is normal, but the ladies' restroom is decked out in early 2000s style girl power aesthetic. Inspirational quotes, cartoons that can't find something to wear, fuzzy bath mats, a color palette heavy in pink and lavender. It's the kind of art and decor you would find in a girl's bedroom twenty years ago, and I am so here for it. This kind of effort in making a space comfortable is not something you see everywhere and I definitely appreciate it. There is a shower but no hot water. There are two lapdance rooms: a topless one that costs $20 ($10 to you), and a full nude one that costs $10 to get in and $35 for each song ($25 to you). The decor in the topless room is more sultry and old school, and the decor in the nude room is giving Claire's and Spencer's. We're talking zebra stripes, savannah animal figurines, those lamps that have plastic strands that stick up with LED lights on the ends, the color pink. Someone went in there and made it look nice and UNIQUE. Looks like it was decorated by the same person who did the bathroom. It's everything I wanted in fifth grade. Most of the money I made was from the nude dances. I was nervous about full nude lapdances, but thankfully no one tried to finger me. I assume it's only a matter of time before that happens, though. The respect levels run the gamut from the clientele here. There is no alcohol served here, I think because of the nudity. The customers can bring stuff to drink in the parking lot, though. Overall, I made more money here than I expected, but it's hard to say how much is to be made here regularly since I was only here for a couple nights. There is expensive transient labor nearby with construction/oil stuff, so there's that, but it seemed like the dancers were not used to making a ton, and I suspect I was getting new girl money from all the guys who'd never seen me before, and that it would run dry eventually just like an oil well. I don't remember how much the house fee was, but it does depend on what time you get there. I think it ranges from $30 to $60? That being said, it was a nice casual experience, and I made money in a comfortable setting. Was the money amazing? No, but it was more than I expected from the middle of nowhere, and it was mostly commensurate with the amount of work it took to earn it. I wouldn't recommend going to that area with 285 as a money-making destination in mind, but if you, like me, find yourself in southern New Mexico with a deteriorating bank statement, it might be worth a stop-in.
