Additional Information
DiCarlo's is a strip club in a very good location on Central Ave. in Albany. It's a pretty small place that used to be a regular disco-type club, so the setup is a little odd, but you can work with it.
Stage doesn't matter in the least here. If you're sitting at the bar and facing the bar, the stage is directly behind you, which means you don't get a ton of attention onstage unless it's busy. The only tip rail is tiny and on the far side of the stage, and the rest of the stage is surrounded by a little iron railing. Customers often feel very awkward about tipping, because the only way they can do it is walk up to the rail and wait for you to come down. As with all strip clubs with liquor licenses in this area, you cannot be topless within six feet of a customer area, so you can only be on the main stage when topless. The pole is on a small lower platform, along with a small trapeze. You do a three-song set, topless by second song.
Private dances are $25 apiece, of which you get $20 back. This is pretty unheard of in this area. They've also started doing a 2/$40, of which you get $30. I'd say you get tipped additional money maybe 50% of the time. Dances aren't quite air dances, but they're pretty close. The guys cannot touch you at all. You can get on top of him, but you can't actually straddle him, as there is no crotch-to-crotch contact allowed--this means NO GRINDING. They do enforce this. The dances are in low arm chair in curtained alcoves against the far wall of the club. The curtains stay open.
This is a very, very clean club. Any time girls come in and do extras, they're fired as soon as they're found out. We occasionally get an influx of really young girls from other clubs in the area who break the rules, but they typically don't last long--either they get fired or they leave and go somewhere else. This is a small, tightly-knit club--I wouldn't exactly say it's clique-y, but it really is a sort of family, and girls who like to cause shit and get crazy don't last long. The majority of the dancers range from mid-20's to mid-30's.
The manager is a former feature dancer named Brandy, who is also the bartender four days a week. She does a great job and I've never had any complaints about her.
There's a small VIP-room that costs $50/hour, or is free with bottle service. Most people don't even mention it, as the dancers make no money off that transaction, but I've successfully sold it to customers who prefer buying me out by the hour to getting dances, and who want a more "intimate" setting. There's two couches in there, so if customers want to cuddle we can do it. Once again, though, very strict. You don't get topless in VIP, you can't grind, and he can't touch you. Very, very few girls bother with trying to get customers to pay for their company up front, and because of that, it's often difficult to get customers to do it.
There are a lot of sitters in this club--girls will go up to a guy, plop down without being invited and even without talking to the guy first, and just sit there and stare vacantly, occasionally asking for a dance. As you can't approach a customer who already has a girl with him, this means that until either the girl or the guy gets up and moves, it's impossible to make money off of him. I get a lot of complaints from customers about these girls--makes them very uncomfortable.
This is a very laid-back sort of club, but don't be fooled--it's also the most strict club in the area. You have to be at your shift on time for roll call that's at 10 p.m. on the dot every night--if you're late, you have to wait an hour before you can start. If you can't make it to work, you have to find a cover. For girls who are particularly lazy or entitled, this probably isn't the place for you. Money can be hit-or-miss, especially in the winter--January and February are the slowest months by a long shot, and I've noticed a significant decrease in my income. But if you weather the bad months you can make real good money the rest of the year, especially if you hustle.
