Additional Information
I worked here for two years and quit in May 2019. I don’t think my experience personally was bad, because I was an 18-20 y/o petite white girl. Bakersfield is a conservative, religious town with a lot of white privilege.
This club has a lot of weird rules. It’s full nude on stage, no nudity in dances, no alcohol served, no g-strings allowed, nothing see-through. Deja Vu is a franchise and this club takes advantage of it when it comes to their rules. You have to schedule 3 5-hour shifts a week in order to keep 60% of dance sales, you have to give 60% of tips but everyone just lies abt what they make so whatever, if you miss a scheduled shift you get put on a 40% commission when you return, then 50% for your next shift, then after scheduling yourself for new shifts, you get back to 60%. You have to get atleast 3 dances or you get written up and after a certain amount of write ups, you’re fired. A lot of times, there simply just wasn’t enough customers for all the girls to make their quota and they’d get written up. The management really liked me and let me get away with whatever I wanted (underage drinking, not showing up and not getting in trouble). It felt unfair to be there. I left because I had a mental breakdown after he fired my friend for doing the exact same thing I was doing. Then I started dancing at deja vu in north hollywood, which is so much better, everyone who makes an effort goes home with something, and the management is super chill and fair. But yeah, if you’re a hot, white girl next door type of dancer you might enjoy it but otherwise just drive the extra hour and 30 minutes to go somewhere worth it.
