[UPDATE: The manager Bruno was fired recently for stealing. This club no longer fines dancers, once they learned that the practice was illegal.]
It's pretty easy to get hired at Club Risque Bristol, just have at least some dancing experience. But it's not really worth it. Favoritism, jealousy and gossip are extremely problematic here.
Like most small clubs, there's a crap load of drama. Bouncers, bartenders, other dancers, customers -- EVERYONE feeds into this. Everyone knows who everyone's seeing OTC, who's sleeping with whom, etc. There are customers and bouncers that mess around with multiple dancers.
Nick, the owner, has a thing for black girls, so they get his nice side. White girls, however, do not get the same treatment. He'll take their heads off for the slightest little thing. Especially weight. When it comes to being on the bigger end of the spectrum, again, it's okay if you're black, but an unforgivable crime if you're white. It's ass backwards racism, considering the man is white himself.
The bouncers' other job seems to be trying to screw around with as many dancers as they can. Considering they're all old, fat and unattractive, I couldn't really understand why so many girls threw themselves at them.
There is a stupid rule with scheduling where if you only work the first shift, you have to work at least one cocktail shift and one closing shift per month. And if you work only the cocktail shift, you have to work at least one closing shift per month. It's nonsensical. No other club I've worked at demanded anything like this from their dancers.
The bartenders tend to get underfoot during tip collecting and not all of them are accommodating (many are washed-up former dancers with attitudes). Lots of regular customers here, and Friday and Saturday nights are difficult, as a lot of ghetto types come in with no intention of spending any money.
Overall I do not recommend this place. It's too much of a soap opera and not enough money to justify it all.
