Additional Information
I worked at Strokers for about 3-4 months, beginning around New Year's '07. And I float back in from time to time simply because they are pretty lenient about when you can work, the Dekalb county permit is good for all clubs in the area, and sometimes you can get REALLY lucky if you're a new face.
Things may have changed since then but it was really hit or miss for me. Some nights I left with $600+, others I left with $17, and that was before the economy took a nose-dive. The club is run pretty well. Management is decent and fees are among the lowest in the Atlanta area. $20 if you get in by 8pm with a minimum of $10 to the DJ and that's it-- liked that a lot.
Strokers has fallen off quite a bit from what I hear. Mondays are pretty good there still as they have customer specials that draw a large crowd, and like many other black clubs it's not really about the individual dances per se, because much money is to be made from getting "rained on", which happens quite frequently.
The girls can be quite bitchy from what I hear, but if you mind your own business and stick to your own hustle that shouldn't be a problem. Strokers is not for beginners. I remember them having way too many girls sometimes, but I hear they fired quite a few girls in order to improve their image. There is no schedule there, but you have to work a Mon or Tues in order to work Weds, Fri or Sat. You can't pay your way out of that, either.
Oh, and also what was REALLY annoying was that the club closes at 4am but it'll be at least 4:30, sometimes even later before you can leave because they call each dancer to the front to take the breathylizer test by the order or arrival, but they don't even start that process until all of the customers have been cleared out of the club.
If you're looking for steady money I would avoid Strokers, but if you have a DeKalb permit and want to work your permit a little bit, it's worth a stop by on a Monday for sure.
