Additional Information
this is the number one hostess club for foreigners in tokyo. you just show up to apply for a job.
the standard of dress is completely different to stripping. they prefer cocktail style dress and 'pretty' hair. they don't like skanks or rough girls.
this club involves sitting with customers and drinking with them. you get paid per drink. you also get a decent fee per bottle of champagne you drink, as well as your hourly rate.
the downside to hostessing is the perpetual small-talk you have to make in baby-english, and also the frequency with which you end up roaring drunk because you can't hide your dom perignon in the champagne bucket or pot plants anymore.
the hostess money is ok here. (not a patch on stripping in tokyo, however).
the management can be pushy for dohans (or dinner dates with customers where you bring them to the club afterwards) - but that is normally only if business seems slow.
there are cabaret shows 4 times a night by professionally trained dancers who invariably get their top off at the end of each set (if only for a quick flash to titillate the customers) -- they usually then dash upstairs to change for the next set. this is not a strip club.
the upside to working at jacks is the protection of the one-eyed jacks group. you will be safe there and you'll make some awesome friends and tokyo connections.
even if some clubs offer a higher hourly rate, jacks has got longevity and reputation behind it.
recommended.
