Additional Information
Sex World is a porn mega store located in the Warehouse (read:mini redlight) district of Minneapolis. This is a review for Thee Dollhouse, which is a peep show located within the Sex World store.
THEE DOLLHOUSE:
Thee Dollhouse has three "booths" that are behind glass, where 1-3 girls will be working at a time. While sitting in your booth, you can see the entire store of Sex World. This means all those 18 year olds and drunk bachlorette parties will see you in your lingerie behind glass, and many of them make snoody or disrespectful comments (you are behind glass and they think you cannot hear them). When you do land a customer, they are able to close the doors to your booth on the other side of the glass for privacy. They feed the money into a vending machine type thing, and this sets a ten minute timer (most shows do not last the full ten minutes).
PEEP SHOW WORK:
So, for those of you who do not know, these peep shows are basically masturbation and/or fetish shows. The rates are $20 topless, $40 fully nude, fetish and masturbation shows START at $60 (can be higher depending on the demands, you can always set your prices higher), toy shows start at $80. Management only requires you to do topless and nude shows, everything else is up to you. The most popular shows are the $40, fully nude shows. Plenty of fetish show people will only put in $20 or $40 and try to rip you off and start role playing, and you have to tell them it costs more. Don’t sell yourself short. If you do, you will only piss off the other girls and make enemies. Sex World takes 40% percent of your earnings, which in my opinion, is far too much given that advertisement is not allowed and Thee Dollhouse is literally falling apart.
MONEY:
There is money to be made, but it does depend on the person and if this is your gig. I certainly made more than I would at say, Whole foods, or even waitressing, but this job is NOT comparable to stripper money. Grossing between $100 - $300 is pretty average for a six hour shift, and keep in mind you only keep 60%. Sometimes you’ll make more, especially if you’re new, or if you have a good base of established regulars, and some days, less. I found day shift to be better for me (mostly business men on lunch break), but it depends on you and your look.
So why would you do this job and not strip? For me, it was way more fun. I would go into my booth, smoke cigarettes and study for school, and pretty much just lounge and listen to music or go on fb, and sometimes smile and wave at customers to pull them in. If you’re not that into hustling, this job is great. If you are a kinky freak, this job is great. I got to learn a lot about fetish and role play and beginning domme work, and I lovvved most of my regulars, especially the business men that would undress and be a pretty princess in their lingerie. Peep shows are dying out, which is quite sad. The Lusty’s are both closed now, and the era of webcam has taken over. While there was certainly plenty of shit, I’m thankful for that job and to have that experience. Feel free to message me if you are thinking of working there and have questions.
