Additional Information
In the 1990s this was an awesome club with gorgeous dancers and touring acts. In the last 3-5 years Anthony's saw a general decline in dancer quality and club atmosphere. In 2003 Anthony's management was assumed by the same people who run Mardi Gras in Springfield. Changes they instituted make the "new" Anthony's a big improvement over the old, declining club, but its remote location in a light industrial area on the border between South Hadley and Granby makes it tough to attract crowds of customers, unlike in Springfield. This also means that most of the awesome Mardi Gras dancers don't want to be asked to dance at Anthony's, where earning potential is so clearly much lower.
I dropped in on a Thursday evening in July 2004. I paid no cover and my waitress generally took good care of me. But there were only about 6 dancers working for about 10 customers. Most of them were barely head-turners -- lots of tats, piercings, flabby bodies and generally scruffy appearance. The music and the DJ were loud *and* obnoxious ... a deadly combination.
Two girls stood out from the others, however. They were clearly friends as they were nearly inseparable off stage. Unfortunately, as I came to find out, these two girls were not Anthony's regulars; they normally danced at Rubys II in Bridgeport, CT, but because they live in the South Hadley area they decided to drop in. I had a private dance (3 songs @ $20 each) and each song got progressively hotter. Nice contact and she even allowed me to let my hands wander a bit. But I must emphasize that this is NOT the kind of private dance you should expect at Anthony's most of the time. I happened to find a dancer who's used to the more liberal lap dance conditions in play at Ruby's II (a club I highly recommend, btw).
Friday and Saturday nights might bring in more choice and quality. For the most part, though, Anthony's is a backwater club that's struggling to get it together. If you're driving to the Pioneer Valley and want to go to a strip club, you'll be much better served at Mardi Gras in Springfield.
