Additional Information
I've been at MG for about 4 months and thought some things needed to be cleared up! Re: dress rules - yes they are particular in what you can wear and when.
NB - actually, halterneck dresses are permitted, as are some patterns, glittery fabrics and lace.
Where they are particular is with your underwear, the club requires that you wear a "string" g-string - no brazillian cut or bootie short panties. Your underwear set needs to match your dress (ie. no white underwear with your black dress) and patterns like leopard print, or sheer lace/fabric/mesh over your nipples or groin are generally not allowed. It pays to check with Michelle on weekends before you step out on the floor or buy something new.
As far as dresses go you must wear a long gown (one or two piece) between 11pm and 1am. They don't allow 2 piece short dresses but you see alot of 2 piece long gowns some with only a bra top (matching fabric) and long skirt. They are particular with your shoes (no boots, even ankle boots, but anything else is fine) and must be a stiletto heel or near to. You don't have to wear a bra under your dress while you're prowling on the floor if you don't want to - just remember to put it back on before you hop up on a table and whip your dress off!
I guess the thing to remember, appearance wise, is that it's a "gentleman's club" atmosphere. You will look out of place/slutty in anything too OTT anyway.
The house fee is $50 which is waived if you are a showgirl and perform that night (ie. thursday, friday, saturday) or if it's your first night at the club.
All dances are air dances though the club does allow you to take a customer's hands and hold them on your hips. There is a "dibber dobber" system with regards to private dances - someone (another dancer, security, mgmt) is always watching - which sounds bad but efffectively prevents snowballing and customers expecting more than they should. You will have trouble at MG if you want to allow customers to touch or kiss you, and IMO it doesnt affect your income if you don't allow touching at all. You are permitted to sit on the arm of the customer's chair during the dance, but never in their lap. You will see alot of girls leaning on customer safe areas (shoulders, knees) during a dance, even on table dances, if you're unsure what is borderline you can always run your moves past Michelle or one of the other girls.
On weekends you will be rostered for table dancing and into Top 40 (like a cattle call, very strange and annoying roster wise, for a 2 minute trot around the showroom stage) and into Mega Personals (5 girls get rostered to do private dances for 5 customers on stage at once). You're expected to be on time for your tables, and if you're more than 5-7 minutes late (at the previous dancer's discretion) you are expected to pay the dancer $30 for wasting their time. Some people have major issues with this rule, but when it's busy and you're missing out on dances because you've been stuck on a table for the last 1/2 hour, you'll be putting your hand out too, fair's fair.
Basically, the management is really supportive of the dancers. If a customer touches you, is rude, drunk, or making you uncomfortable - you are always backed up by security and management to end the dance and/or have them removed from the club.
A good tip re: your arrival time - the earlier you get in, the earlier you can be rostered off. Showgirls get rostered off first, followed by first in, all the way down the list. Sun - Wed if you arrive between 5-6 you tend to leave by 2 or 3am, Thur - Sat if you arrive after 8pm you can expect to be there until close (6-7 or even 8am).
;D I really love working here, there's a good group of girls who are helpful and welcoming to newbies. As with any work place there are some people who are primadonnas, you figure out pretty quickly who you want to be around.
You'll do best at MG if you're professional and stay up on the floor, not in the dressing rooms. It has been a long cold winter but you can still have good nights on weekdays and weekends, so long as you're on the floor - ready, willing and able. You get alot of 'late rush' especially on weekdays so worth thinking about staying for an extra hundred or two before close. You get what you give, so if you are respectful and courteous, and professional you'll do well. This applies to customers too, you can't get away with a quick hustle on weekends - they do expect a little conversation (2-3 minutes is fine) before you drop the line on them!
Best person to contact re: employment is Caroline.
That's about it! :P
