So I just wanted to say I have heard a lot of girls say they have made really good money at Legends in Detroit. So much so on stage and in tips that they really don’t need to try to get dances to make good money. I have worked at Coliseum, and like other girls said, a lot of customers wanted everything for $100, which gets old really quick. I mean, there’s other guys who will pay $500-$800 supposedly for extras from what I’ve heard. I wasn’t soliciting extras, but it was a super hustle. Definitely could have banked if I was about the extras. Coliseum was good when Mike was the night shift DJ because he always played the best music and put night shift girls into rotation without needing to check in with him (although it’s still a good idea to check in), and he worked Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights, which were always the best money nights. Mike was the best DJ I have ever worked with. Tuesday-Friday, Frankie typically worked, and I hated working with him. He had a drinking problem, he wouldn’t put girls into rotation UNLESS you checked in with him, half the time he would mispronounce girls names, and also if you didn’t want to go on stage, he just wouldn’t put you in rotation, which made it a pain in the ass for the 50% of dancers who were in rotation, because we would have to pay the $20 to skip our set if we were doing dances more frequently (which Frankie pocketed, Mike was honest about it though). And Frankie would play some crappy slow ass music except in the off chance that Alan was hanging out in the bar, which was pretty infrequent. Sometimes if you were trying to communicate with Frankie to find out your place in rotation or to request music, Frankie would not acknowledge you for like 5 minutes, it was a pain in the ass. This was a non-issue with all other DJs. Dayshift was good, Chris was the dayshift DJ Monday-Friday, he was a good DJ. Saturday-Monday nights was not enough nights so I eventually stopped working at Coliseum.

Anyway, I am posting though because I have heard from everyone I have talked to that has worked at Legends that the money is very good and easy to make, just in tips. Apparently hiring has gotten tougher though, because my homegirl tried working at Legends and the manager told her she was sorry, but she couldn’t work. She’s pretty hott, at least a 7/10. So hiring must have gotten pickier since they reopened after their vast renovations 2 years ago. I’m sure extras go on at Legends, it is just the fact that the extras girls say they make enough in tips that they don’t even need to hustle to try to get dances at Legends that tells you a lot.

I have heard that if you work at Coliseum and quit to go to Legends and want to come back, Nicole (the night shift manager at Coliseum) will usually fine you $500. So I would try getting hired at Legends first and then try Coliseum. I have heard Legends dayshift clientele is not great though, so if you are looking to work just dayshift, Coliseum would be better. The dayshift manager was a prick when I worked at Coliseum, although I heard they have a new dayshift manager. Dayshift money was usually good, although Saturday dayshift was hit-or-miss. Tipout was significantly lower on dayshift. Stage tips were less during the day, but it didn’t matter, dayshift girls made significantly better money at Coliseum.

As far as hiring goes, you have to look hott. Badass bling outfits and shoes help.

Oh... and bring a kimono that covers your ass, or wear a 1 piece gown that is low cut in the back, booblilicious in the front and sexy and classy. I found that longer gowns of this sort made me more money than shorter gowns, although it is crazy hard to find the right sexy gown I am describing. Detroit laws make it so you have to have your ass covered when you are not on stage, and management takes this super seriously to avoid ticketing in the event of a raid.. Your front side does not need to be covered, but your ass must be covered, hence the kimonos that most girls wear. If you don’t have a kimono, the house mom can sell you one, but honestly, it costs $35 for a cheap but sexy kimono that you could order online for literally $5. So do yourself a favor and go to City Trends or Cirillas or Romantix or one of those adult entertainment shops and find yourself a sexy kimono that has loopholes and a sash so you can tie it in the back. Also these gowns/kimonos cannot be see through, and they cannot be white, because apparently the city of Detroit classifies white as see through, and as ticket-worthy. The outfit that covers your ass must be one piece, so a long cha cha skirt and bra won’t work. Obviously you can wear a 2-piece bra and panties or whatever under your kimono. So the bra and panties can show in the front but the kimono would need to cover your ass in the back.

Also, you have to have your license/state ID with you everytime you work, otherwise they will not let you work, even if they have your dance card on file. This is also to avoid fines in the event of a raid.

Also, when they eventually have you sign a contract to work, it says you are entitled to hourly wages, but this is a load of shit, no girl here who is not some kind of server has ever been paid hourly wages. I don’t even know why the contract says this other than for the owner’s tax incentives.

Also, if a customer wants to buy you a drink, you have to get this tacky neon yellow wristband from the manager. I would wear a watch and/or bracelets to kind of conceal this bracelet which clashed with a lot outfits.

Nightshift tipout:
$10 house mom
$30 to DJ
$50 if you use the back room for dances (although this is waived you first day)
$8 valet parking fee
At 7:00PM there is review, where all girls not doing dances walk around the stage. If you are on time and are on stage for this there are no late fees.

On Monday-Saturday if you are there and ready and on the floor between 7:01-8:00, the late fee is $45;
between 8:01-9:00 the late fee is $55,
between 9:01-10:00 the late fee is $65,
between 10:01-11:00 the late fee is $75.

On Sundays, there is no review at the beginning as they open at 8:00, but if you are there and on the floor between 8:01-9:00, the late fee is $45,
between 9:01-10:00, the late fee is $65,
between 10:01-11:00, the late fee is $85.
As long as you are there and ready and on the floor by 8:00 on Sundays, no late fee.

If you want to pay to leave early for some reason, this costs $100, plus the fees listed above. So if you are on schedule but don’t want to be there, either call in or don’t show up. If you stop showing up/stop working without notice on night shift, you will most likely get a text from Nicole a month later asking what days you’d like next week. Granted they have your phone number correct. I don’t know if this is how things operate everywhere in Detroit, but on Nicole’s Coliseum night shift, this is the case.

If you are doing dances and want to skip your set, this costs $20 each time, and you typically need to give a song or two notice. So when Frankie wouldn’t put up half the girls, this $20 was paid an awful lot. But only by the girls who actually like to go on stage. I liked going up because I made money for the pole tricks I would do, but I don’t like being on stage for a 6 song rotation 4 or 5 times on a Friday when there are 50 girls. Somebody is being swindled it I am paying $20 3 times a night to skip my set, but only ever that many times a night when Frankie is working. Frankie did a bad job keeping the rotation in order Tuesday-Friday. Like you might think you are up in 7 songs because that is what he announced, but then you are up in 1 song, but you were not aware of this, despite standing at the DJ booth window for 3 minutes to know for sure, with zero acknowledgment from Frankie. But if you ask him to give you a break on house after poor communications all night his response is “I have never been late, and I live 3 hours away”. I hated dealing with him. Saturday, Sundays, and Mondays when Mike is DJing, you might pay to skip maybe 1 time if you are making money doing dances. And if you tell Mike you like dancing to rock music, he will be far more inclined to put you back in rotation sooner if you want, because there are nowhere near enough girls who like dancing to rock. Especially if you say you don’t care what kind of rock, and if you are consistently entertaining on stage.

And when Mike is DJing, if the order has to change last minute for some reason, he will make a quick announcement over the microphone without turning off the music, letting people know of the change. You can always here Mike if you are being attentive, yet he is never disruptive to the vibe of the club, and to the flow of the music. This is why I loved working with Mike... plus he had the best music.

If you are coming from out of town, plan to get there an hour early every time, because it is always when you least expect it that you have to take an alternate route, or traffic is down to one lane on a Sunday, or there is that unexpected train at 6:40 that takes 20 minutes, just when you thought you were 5 minutes from the club. And the house mom has to do her job and fine you $45. So just plan to get there by 6:00 every time.

You can be on the floor as early as 6:30 Monday-Saturday.

You get one free drink per shift if you order it for yourself. But if you are ordering an alcoholic drink as your free drink, you need to get that tacky yellow wristband from the manager. The bartenders here absolutely will not serve dancers who do not have this wristband, even if they know who you are, and even if you have your license and god forbid the manager is missing in action. Rules are rules.

Stage rotation on the weekends with 40+ girls is 6 songs, the first song is in the middle stage, the second song is the stage with the pole closest to the dressing room/DJ booth, 3rd song is on the pole closest to the door/bouncers. You then have to put your kimono on fully and cover your tits, before you can even get on the steps to get off the main stage. For your 4th song you get off the stage by the door and turn to the left, there is a little mini side stage, you dance on that for a song. At the end of that song, put your kimono, get off stage, turn to the left, and for your 5th song there is another little side stage right near the bar closest to the DJ booth where you do your 5th song. After that song, you put your kimono on, get off stage, and for your 6th song there is a long runway side stage on the opposite side of the main stage. You can’t miss it because it is the only side stage with a long walkway that is not the main stage. I also like Mike better than Frankie, because Mike announces the next girls up toward the end of the song when it is about time to put your kimono on if finishing up your 3rd/4th/5th/6th song of your set. Frankie would announce this halfway through the song and it would fuck with the vibe.

If there are less girls on night shift there are either 2 or 3 girls on the main stage at a time. You can probably figure this out, but it is always, center stage first, then stage closest to DJ, then stage closest to front door.

And with only 2 girls, first 2 songs you dance on pole stage on the main stage closest to DJ followed by you dancing to the next 2 songs on the pole stage closest to front door. After 4th song, you get off stage, after putting your Kimono or gown on completely. If you don’t put your kimono or gown on completely covering your ass and tits before you get on those stairs of the stage, a bouncer will come over to give you hell and will accuse you of being “new” while explaining the rules, because “everyone else had to follow them”.

Dayshift tipout:
$15 DJ
$ 10 House Mom
I don’t think there was a room fee or house fee, but if there was, it was $30. I think there was some deal like the first 7 girls there and ready didn’t have to pay a room fee Monday-Friday. Dayshift on Saturday operates differently and was more lax. Seriously this is why dayshift girls had all the wealth, even despite significantly smaller stage tips. Or it might have been if you were there by noon for 12:00 review, you avoided fees. All I know is when I worked dayshift last, I tipped the DJ triple because he was helpful and it felt like nothing. You are on stage more during the day, but you can always skip your stage set if necessary. I don’t think they are supposed to let you pay off stage often during the day, because there aren’t enough girls, but it is an option, and a nice one. Chris played good music and did a good job announcing. Kevin was the Saturday dayshift DJ and fill-in DJ if Mike called in. He was pretty cool.
