Additional Information
Kittens can be an excellent club to work for as the girls are fairly tight knit and management are very easy on the girls. However, it is (unusually for Melbourne) a touching venue. No genital contact of any kind is permitted, but upper body touching is. This includes mouth-to-breast contact and in some cases kissing. It is at the discretion of the dancer how much touching they allow (within the permitted limits), however it can be difficult to make money if you offer only a no-contact dance (though I knew a couple of girls to successfully do this). The fact that it is a contact club is a bonus in some ways as it is a selling point (in terms of hustling for dances). It also cuts the whingeing to some degree as the patrons are less frustrated (and less likely to grab inappropriately than they are in no-contact clubs).
House fees are $20 on weeknights. On Fridays and Saturdays they are $35 if you arrive by 8pm, $50 if you arrive after. They are paid at the end of the night. If you don't make any money the fee will be waived. At the Frankston club there are no House Fees on weeknights (except Friday) or Sundays, however the club is generally dead on these nights. House fees also cover dinner, this is generally pizza but may be some other kind of fast food. Soft drinks are free for dancers.
Dress code is fairly loose. Most girls tend to wear lingerie sets, though you can also wear dresses. Costumes are rare. Generally, the skimpier the better if you want to make money.
The club is often quite slow in the first few hours, but picks up after that. Each girl has to do a 15 minute pole set every 1-2 hours; the pole roster s kept next to the bar. It's a good thing to get into the habit of checking it frequently.
Management are rather lax and fines are rare (though they do exist). However, they are lax to the point of rarely ejecting drunk patrons or patrons who touch inappropriately. You are allowed to stop dancing for any customer if they touch your genitals; security will back you up. Management are also, on the whole, very fair and even kind to the girls.
Dances take place in a communal dance room and are constantly observed by security to ensure that no genital contact is taking place. Security also walk girls to their cars or cabs at the end of each night to ensure both safety and adherence to the club rule of no soliciting from the venue.
At Caulfield all the dancers are lovely and non-bitchy, South Melbourne is moderate on the bitchiness (give the girls about a month to get to know you; after that they are lovely). However, Frankston is extremely bitchy and competitive. Girls will often get nasty if a new girl makes too much money. If you work at Frankston, you are best advised to keep to yourself and ignore the politics as best you can.
It is easiest to make money at Caulfield, which is the smallest venue. Money at South Melbourne is intermediate, but it's there if you present yourself well and know how to hustle. Frankston can be a difficult club to make money at, but if you're a good hustler it's certainly there (especially on weekends).
Patrons are a mixed bunch. Drunkenness is fairly common (duh!). Bucks nights can be hard going in terms of making money, however Kittens provide 'bucks shows' in which two dancers (of the customers choice) do a stage show around a seated patron (often moisturiser is involved). The pay for this is about $70.
All in all I found Kittens to be an enjoyable club to work in thanks to its friendliness and freedom (in terms of outfit choice, etc). Recommended.
